Hm... interesting

There are two distinct episodes in this two-hour fire-and-brimstone buffet event. For the appetizer, "Let It Bleed," Dean faces his worst nightmare when Lisa and Ben are unexpectedly abducted. In the main course finale, "The Man Who Knew Too Much," the war in Heaven comes to a head. Castiel faces off with Raphael and the walls holding back Sam's memories of Hell crumble. Someone (human? angel? demon?) will die and someone will be transformed. Prepare to gasp, possibly cry and write angry forum entries. Oh, and sorry, John Winchester won't show his face for the finale.

The bad news is: It seems like the "two unexpected deaths" are not Lisa and Ben.
(To clarify: I don't want them dead - even though I do want them out of my show - but if them dying means that I don't have to worry about characters I care about, I'm all for it.)
The good news is: It's now only one death in the finale. And one transformation.
Here are my thoughts on what that could mean:
Of course, there are other possible candidates for the "transformation", in which case Castiel would still be in danger:
Either way, this spoiler makes me hopeful. "Transformed" really sounds like it should refer to Castiel. And only one death should mean that I won't lose both of my angels. That's something.
Bonus crack theory: After winning the war against Raphael, and taking over Heaven, Castiel "transforms" into God (which would also work with the Misha was written out of the show rumour).
Thought? Other ideas?

The good news is: It's now only one death in the finale. And one transformation.
Here are my thoughts on what that could mean:
- Raphael dies and Castiel becomes human. That's the best case scenario. I'm just not sure if Raphael counts as THE death, since he's basically a "big bad".
- Balthazar dies (saving Cas) and Castiel becomes human.
- Someone (Raphael, Balthazar, someone else) dies and Castiel changes his vessel. Obviously, with so much of Castiel's popularity stemming from him being played by Misha, that only makes sense if Misha wants out, and I doubt they'd keep Castiel around in that case. It could be interesting, though, if they find a really, really good actor. Claire!Castiel was pretty amazing, and while this vessel probably wouldn't work on a regular basis, it proves that Castiel can potentially played by someone else and still be our Castiel.
Of course, there are other possible candidates for the "transformation", in which case Castiel would still be in danger:
- It could refer to Sam, soemthing to do with his wall. But I doubt that.
- It could possibly be Crowley in some way. I don't have a real theory on that, though.
- It could be Balthazar. Or Raphael.
Either way, this spoiler makes me hopeful. "Transformed" really sounds like it should refer to Castiel. And only one death should mean that I won't lose both of my angels. That's something.

Date: 2011-05-03 06:26 am (UTC)pointless storyline is pointlessthey just amounted to nothing for him. Ugh. I'm miffed that they even still exist in the show, can they be written off if not dead at this point? DO NOT WANT THEM ANYMORE, KTHX.I'm still nervous about what could happen. These descriptions are incredibly vague and sometimes misleading. I just, I don't know.

Date: 2011-05-03 09:04 pm (UTC)Although they've already done human!Castiel, I wouldn't put it past them to do it again. After all the writers have somehow managed to re-tell the "something's wrong with Sam" storyline almost every season.
On the other hand if Raphael dies then there will be no archangels left in heaven- so maybe Castiel receives a power/rank upgrade to fill the void. But who knows- the transformation may not have anything to do with him.
In the end though, I just hope Misha doesn't leave the show, and the rumors are just that- rumors. The show-runners would have to be awfully dumb to let him go. His popularity was reflected in the recent TV Guide favorites poll, and he was up against strong competition.

Date: 2011-05-03 11:29 pm (UTC)I'd like to think that if Cas survives a fight with Raphael he would be transformed into an archangel, which could also mean he won't be around as much. That works with the concept of TPTB wanting to bring the brothers even closer in S7.
I would say the death involves Sam but they already did that last time. They 'killed' Cas and Bobby, too, and I really hope they don't pull both of those stunts again.
I'd like to think TPTB are savvy enough not to axe a good thing when they have one (Misha as Castiel) so I'm not buying the rumors. Then again the latter relies on the employment of common sense! :D It also depends on *how* the relationship changes between Cas and the guys in 6.20 as well as whether or not the whole angel arc is concluded with the finale. They could still keep Cas, but I suspect his appearances would be even less than the past two seasons. :/ I'd rather he get his own spin-off at that point.;)
Certainly all the hints we've gotten about Castiel (so far) are pointing to an epic foreshadowing of doom. Then again, I think really good writers do that deliberately as it establishes tension.
We think something will happen and then they go in a different direction. Hopefully that turn will be a good one for Cas.

Date: 2011-05-04 01:24 am (UTC)Structurally? Could be construed as a transformation I suppose.
I'm hoping Castiel will become an archangel personally...he certainly deserves it after all he's been through with the brothers, even if he has done some pretty bad stuff to get the war in Heaven won.
