I'm about half way through "Unholy Night" by Seth Grahame-Smith, and I'm loving every second of it.

some spoilers for the first half of the book )

1. Leave a comment to this post, specifically saying that you would like a letter.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Post the names of five fictional characters whose names begin with that letter, and your thoughts on each. The characters can be from books, movies, or TV shows.

I just finished Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Yes, I know, I'm extremely late to the party. I enjoyed it very much, how could anyone not, but there was one part that particularly stood out, that I want to wrap up, and carry with me in my pocket to take out, to read it, and re-read it, and read it again, until I know the whole thing by heart and can recite it to everyone, who's willing to listen, in my sleep:

* Seriously, this movie is too brilliantly bad and cracktastic to give it anything less.

Look what the DHL guy just delivered:

"I have some terrible news." The voice was blunt.

Fairy tales usually begin with "Once upon a time", but this one, the story of my 2009 Formula 1 world championship season, started with an ominous voicemail message on my mobile phone: "Jenson, please call me. We have to speak immediately."
[...]

I can't believe I'm finally holding this book in my hands. The one with Jenson's name the words "Championship year" together on the title page. Like a definite proof that this season really did happen.

I'll have to get some more work done first before I can start reading but of course I couldn't keep myself from browsing through it a little already and it looks like it's everything I hoped it would be. :-)

(And, by the way, Photobucket's little mobile phone icon totally looks like the TARDIS)

It's summer and the semester is almost over. That calls for hours and hours of lying in the garden with a good book. Well, as soon as the weather gets better again. If it doesn't then it calls for hours of lying on the sofa with a cup of tea and a good book. Either way, there's one problem: I've pretty much run out of reading material which is to say of books that I can't wait to read.

A trip to the bookshop yesterday taught me that a) the English section of German bookshops is way too small and b) there are too many books that could be good but that could just as well suck.

So I'm asking you: Are there any books you can recommend? Any must-reads? Books you read recently and enjoyed immensely? Books that you can read over and over again?

I'm open for almost everything that's either fiction or non-fiction with a lot of British humour (like An Utterly Impartial History of Britain). Preferably by British of Irish authors.

I just finished the first Supernatural tie-in novel but before I write the review I have some work related news: My mother told me yesterday that the company I work for needs some things like their web pages and stuff translated into English and she asked me if I was interested in performing the task. Am I interested? Hell, yeah! Of course I am. *is excited*

Okay, Nevermore:
May include spoiler!
Under no circumstances did Sam ever want to hear the end of any sentence of Dean's that began with the words 'Remember that girl' )
