As I told
darciana in a comment today I don't have to own every single movie or tv show my favourite actors has ever made. But I tend to keep my eyes open and buy DVDs of their movies when I come across them. Even when I'm 90% sure they're bad.
And since I needed blank DVDs I also came home with "Cursed" (Milo Ventimiglia) and "Soul Survivours" (Eliza Dushku) today. What is it with my favourite actors always accepting roles in horror movies?
I've just watched Cursed.
Note for
dimturien: In case you didn't know, Michael Rosenbaum is in that movie as well.
It wasn't even as bad as I expected. Basically your average not exactly scary horror flick. Predictable but still quite entertaining. I have to say though that some scenes where just downright gross. They could have gotten their point across with a lot less (missing) body parts.
Anyway, Milo's character (Bo) starts off as a real asshole who's giving one of the main characters a hard time. Of course he's the nice girl's boyfriend, yadayada. My first thought was "He's not going to survive that movie."
But his character changes about halfway through the movie in the best scene by far. Seriously, that scene alone was worth watching the whole movie.
You might not want to read on if you plan on watching the movie sometime because I'm going to spoil that scene for you and my description isn't going to be half as funny and adorable as watching it for yourself.
...
Okay, your choice:
Bo turns up at Jimmy's (the main character) door looking somewhat nervous and telling him that they have to talk about what Jimmy had said earlier at school and Jimmy is all "What did I say again?". So Bo stars babbling about how Jimmy knew and how it takes one to know one and Jimmy is still all WTBö? until Bo leans in to kiss him and looks adorably confused when Jimmy backs up and tries to explain that there's been a mistake.
"Trust me, Bo, I'm not gay. I... I'm cursed."
"I know, it sure does feel like that doesn't it? Not being able to tell anyone, talk to anyone about it."
"No, I'm cursed by the mark of the Beast. Bo, I'm a werewolf."
"Come on Jimmy, you don't have to pretend any more. Not with me."
"No, no, no, it's part of the curse. I'm appealing. I have an unnatural sexual allure."
"Yeah, yeah, you do. I know but..."
"Look, Dude, I'm happy for you. You be gay. It's a good thing. Unfortuanely I got my own shit to take care of so... best of luck, yay go gay and see ya."
And I fell on the floor laughing.
Of course after that he does survive the movie, Jimmy gets the girl and when they kiss poor Bo is feeling awkward and tries to hide that he's a little jealous.
And when the two of them walk away he's standing there looking lonely until Jimmy asks him if he wants to join them. Awwww!
So, I'd say the DVD was worth the money I paid for it.

Date: 2008-01-08 09:30 am (UTC)I usually like horror movies that are well thought through (but then you'd probably rather call them "mystery thriller" or something) or once in a while the ones that don't take themselves serious. And basically the more it leaves to my imagination the better the movie works for me.
