1. Erm... *blinks* Eeek?
2. So we finally officially get to call YED Azazel? And his best buddy Lucifer is entering the game? Yay! *g*
Time: 2 months after the Devil's Gate has been opened (read: only 10 months left)
The boys are with Bobby who tries to figure out how the Colt works, while Dean's forging bullets and Sam is looking for a job. And finds one:
A former picturesque town full of nice and well-behaved people has suddenly turned into a sink of iniquity two months ago: Alkohol, sex, adultery, greed, psychos who run amok, guys who shoot themselves in a church.
"So if we wanna go check out these omens in Ohio, you think you can have this thing ready by this afternoon?"
"Well, it won't kill demons by then but I can promise it'll kill you."
Boys, I think we'll just let Bobby work now and call him if anything comes up. Deal? Great.
Dean meets his old hunter friend Richie who just happens to be in the room across the hallway. Okay...
And the motel has magic fingers. And this time Dean has quite some quarters for his "sick habit". *g*
Okay: Research, questioning people, flirting...

Dean! Pay attention! To the job.
...investigating, stopping people from killing themselves after having shot someone else, splashing holy water on them to find out they're not possessed. That didn't exactly turn out as expected. But at least there's some weird guy watching the scene they should take a closer look at.
Waiting for the police to show up doesn't sound like the smartest idea and Sam doesn't feel comfortable at all. And when the local paper wants a picture it's really time to go.
Richie left a little earlier. With the bartender. Who is a demon. And that's the very last we get to see of Richie. Ever.
And Bobby? Bobby gets visited by Ruby and finds out that the Cold doesn't work just yet. Now the girl Ruby has possessed will die as well. Great... But Ruby claims to know how to get the gun to work on demons again.
Sammy pays the weird guy a visit. Will the boys ever learn how to put their mobile phones on mute? But luckily Sam is a good hunter and gets the upper hand and hold of the gun pointed at him in no time. Just to find out that that guy isn't possessed either.
Oops. Sorry. Minor misunderstanding. He's just gonna leave.
When Sam comes back to the bar Dean has left. With the demonic bartender. But Dean's a good hunter as well who know's a demon when he sees one. And he had enough time to draw a devil's trap earlier. Gotcha!
But exorcising her turns out to be a little more difficult than Dean had thought. What do we learn from this? Know your exorcism by heart so you don't have to depend on a book. I'm sure Sam can recite it in his sleep. But Sam is not there and now Dean's trapped in the basement just like the demon is trapped in the devil's trap.
Enough time for a little chat on demons, humans, what they have in common, evil, hell - Come on, Dean, you don't really want to know yet. You'll find out soon enough. Just: hopefully not - and higher powers.

"What? You think humans have an exclusive on a higher power?"
"You have a god?"
"Sure. His name is Lucifer."
Squeee! *fangirl* Sorry, on with the episode.
"You mean the devil?"
"Your word, not ours. Lucifer actually means 'lightbringer'. Look it up. Once he was the most beautiful of all god's angels but god demanded that he bowed down before men and when he refused god banished him. Tell me, Dean, how would you like bowing before lesser creatures."
I have to say: I agree. Not on the "lesser creatures" part but everything else she says there. Demon!bartender also tells Dean that no one's actually seen Lucifer but they're waiting for his return. Lucifer... devil... anti-christ... Nah! That would be too absurd, right? Right?
Dean also learns a little bit more about the destiny Azazel had in mind for Sam.
"Honestly, there was a plan. Azazel was a tyrant but he held us all together."
"Azazel?"
"What? You think his friends just called him Yellow Eyes? He had a name. After you did him in all fell apart."
"Sorry about that. So what? No chain of command?"
"There was. It was Sam. Sam was supposed to be lead big armee but he hasn't exactly stepped up to the plan, has he?"
But now the demons are just out there on their own. Some enjoying there freedom and having fun and some still ready to follow Sam should he decide to lead them. Yeah, well. I hope you'll spent an eternity waiting for that day.
By the way: Is it just me or does simply calling YED Azazel put everything to a whole new level?
Sam finally turns up with the town's priest. A demonic priest. One the one hand I like how he calls Sam "his brother's keeper" on the other hand it sounds like a bad omen coming from a demon. Someone else turns up to join the action: Bobby. And Ruby. With the Colt.
A demonic couple. Cute. Bartender demon doesn't want her boyfriend to kill Dean. I wonder why. Sam kills both demons in cold blood. Yes, I know, he saves Dean and it is demons he killed - and no hunter in the show really seems to get the concept of trying to save the trapped innocent yet - but... I don't like it. Sam has the same look on his face he had when he killed Jake.

Dean and Bobby seem to have the same worries about it. Dean brings up the "did Sam come back different" thing but in the end they just try to convince each other that Azazel lied. And to be honest: I wish they hadn't brought that up again. When Dean looked at Sam in that scene in the finale that was Sam. 100 percent. If there's something evil in him then I'd rather it's from the demonic blood and has been a part of him for all his life, buried deep. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference but somehow I prefer that scenario over he came back from death changed by far.
Fortunately Sam does care that he didn't just kill two demons but two humans as well. And nothing Ruby says will convince him that it was okay. Ruby still won't spill why she's so eager to help Sam. Maybe she's just waiting for the right time to get him back on track? And Sam won't shoot her with the Colt. She could be lying about being able to help Dean but then again she could be telling the truth and so far she hasn't but hepled him.

"This won't be easy, Sam. You have to do things that go against that gentle nature of yours. There will be collateral damage but it has to be done."
"Well, I don't have to like it."
"No. you wouldn't be Sam if you did. On the bright side: I'll be there with you. That little fallen angel on your shoulder."
Edit: That's interesting:
"Samael (also Sammael) is an important archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, a figure who is accuser, seducer, and destroyer. He has been regarded as both good and evil. In rabbinic lore he is identified as the chief of Satans and the Angel of death. In the Secrets of Enoch (Enoch II) he is a prince of demons and a magician. He was a guardian angel of Esau and a patron of the sinful empire of Rome. Samael is usually considered to be the true angelic name of Satan. The etymology of his name is sometimes thought to be a combination of "sam," and in some combinations 'poison', and "el," meaning 'God'; thus he is the poison of God."

May I add that the very same Sammael fell in love with a young Persian virgin called Sarah. ;)
