A few thoughts on all things Paley Festival, just based on articles and Twitter, as I haven't seen any videos yet:

  • At least two unexpected(!) deaths in the season finale? Please tell me it's not Cas. They can't kill him, right? Bobby neither. Why do I always have to worry again at the end of the season?
Then again, this is Supernatural, so "unexpected death" might just be teasing us and not mean final. Not that this kind of death is unexpected at all any more.
If they take Cas and Bal away from me... I don't even want to think about that.
Hm, then with Lisa and Ben apparently coming back - do not want! - maybe they will be the two unexpected deaths. Which would be really cruel. I mean, I don't like them - or rather I don't like how the show has handled this storyline - but killing them off, which pretty much means Dean getting them killed, not gonna be fun.
The only other somewhat "unexpected" ones I can think of are Meg, Crowley (mainly because right now we are not even supposed to expect him to be alive in the first place) and maybe Raphael.
Eve is expected. Rachel will probably be expected. So is Balthazar, unfortunately. :( How about an unexpected staying alive here, show?

  • Cliffhanger ending? Really? Damn! Now I do want a season 7. We can't have it all end without any ending at all.

  • Ben Edlund is (writing and?) directing a Castiel-centric episode, told from Catiel's point of view. With flashbacks (can those have Balthazar and their friendship before the war, please?) OMG! Perfection!

  • Kripke writing the finale gives me some hope, too.

  • So we will get closure on some of the storylines then: Purgatory, Eve, Sam's Wall and the war in Heaven. Since they are working with a season 7 in mind, I kinda wish they'd give the war in Heaven a little more time. There is so much potential there, it seems a waste to wrap it up so quickly. But I guess I can be glad that they do plan to give it some attention and wrap it up at all, so I won't complain.

I might do a Misha at Paley Festival post like I did for Comic Con last year. Anyone interested?

Unexpected deaths are rather nothing on this show anymore, really. Castiel has "died" twice already in the S4 and S5 finales, as did Bobby in S5 as well. And I think they already know people are suspecting there to be deaths for either.

I honestly think Lisa and Ben are gonna bite it, because cruel as it may be perhaps that's one of the reasons. They did say it's gonna be darker at the very end. Though I don't want Dean to be man!paining over them after that because, seriously dude, you knew that you were placing them at risk the moment you stepped into their lives. But yeah, that's what I think anyway.

Cliffhanger ending? Really? Damn! Now I do want a season 7. We can't have it all end without any ending at all.

Whoa, really? Honestly, I feel like that's an obligation for the network to renew it, and if not then you really pissed off a lot of fans.

I mean I know that's the show's job is to create something to ensure the network might pick it up, but this season has been such a massive clusterfuck of nonsense that I'd rather not there be another season. On the other hand, certain shows go through funks of bad seasons and start anew, so perhaps a seventh season might bring everything back on track again? idk

Sorry of that didn't make any sense. I'm rambling now. I'm just trying to rationalize how I feel about the show now and whether or not I want another season. I honestly don't, but at the same time if they straighten themselves out it might be okay? It's all strange to me right now, I don't know what to feel.

Everyone, who is someone on this show, has died at least once. But I still try to make a difference between dying and dying. So when I'm afraid of Cas or Bobby dying again, I mean dying for good.
Of course, even seemingly permanent deaths aren't exactly always permanent on Supernatural.

I think Lisa and Ben are the most likely scenario, because it is cruel.

They seem to be pretty sure that it gets renewed, but still a cliffhanger is a huge risk. Fandom is gonna tear them apart if the show ends on that.

You make perfect sense, and I know what you mean. I love this show, and that's exactly why I don't know if I want a season 7. I want a chance for things to get better again. But I'm afraid they might get worse.

I think if they truly killed off Castiel, the show would lose a lot of viewers. Because quite frankly, that's what's keeping some people watching anymore, at least from my neck of the woods, and he is a main character even if they don't often treat him like one. Although if they continue to fuck around with his character I would rather they kill him off, destroying characterizations are not cool, show. :/

I have a feeling it is either Lisa and Ben and/or Bobby. DNW Bobby to die permanently, though. I love him. ♥

I'm afraid that the show will turn into Smallville -- people only watch just to see what the fuck they are doing now, not so much for the enjoyment. I swear they better have someone else take the reigns as showrunner if it does get renewed, because I cannot take Sera Gamble's fuckery anymore. -__-

I'm from the same neck of the wood (as you probably know ;)) and yes, it does seem like getting rid of Cas - either by killing him off or simply sending him back to Heaven never to be seen again - would lose them a lot of viewers. But, to be honest, I'm not sure how people in the majority of the fandom think about it, I don't exactly get there much.

Killing Bobby doesn't sound like a much better idea if they don't want the wrath of fandom. Then again, people wouldn't probably stop watching if Bobby weren't around any more.

I've never watched Smallville but I've heard bad things about the road it went down, and I certainly don't want that for my show.
Can Ben Edlund please take over already?

Heh, yeah, I don't know the stats from the majority of fandom either. But I do know that Castiel is a beloved fan favorite, they wouldn't completely off him entirely unless they really want to suffer a huge backlash.

Oh yes, it's been ten seasons (I think?) and people are just like LET IT DIE ALREADY! Which this is its last season. Some cast members left because they thought it was becoming too much or ridiculous to handle, and when your cast is saying that you know shit isn't going right. At least the cast of SPN are all still enjoying and loving what they do, which is good.

PETITION FOR EDLUND AS SHOWRUNNER. WE NEED TO CREATE ONE NOW.

I still haven't been able to watch any videos from Paley, but from what I read it sounds like everyone on the show is aware of how awesome Edlund is as well. They said they trust him whenever he comes up with his crazy ideas, right?
So trust him and put the fate of the show in his hands already.

You totally have my vote on that one because I love Ben. He's an evil genius just like Kripke only much much crazier. ;)

I'd like to have a 7th season. Even if the whole Lisa/Ben storyline made no real sense to me because of the way they left it. Nevertheless, the last couple of episodes made me fall in love with the show again and that's why I hope they're gonna give us another one. But I just wished the CW would stop being so darn annoying and tell us already what's what. The show really got some risky business going on when they end the show with a cliffhanger. I really hope Kripke knows what he's doing. Does he still know best? IDK

A Castiel POV episode sounds like heaven to me (preferably with a lot of Bal in it). I want to watch it even more than the Wild West episode.

As regards to the deaths: haven't they already killed enough characters already? I hated to see Rufus die. I loved him. And I can still here myself cry out nooooo when I watched Crowley burn. I loved that bastard of a devil.

Ben Edlund owns my soul. No wait, Kripke owns that already. Or was that my first born. I losing track.

I hope that Kripke and Gamble know a bit more than we do re season 7. Because, really, cliffhanger, when it's somewhat probable but still in the air? I don't want to go through that again.

There can never be enough Bal or Cas. Preferably both of them together.

A Castiel-centric episode??? O_O DREAM COME TRUE!
But if they kill Cas off then... hell, I refuse to believe that! That's just plain cruel. But I don't think they would. He has such a fanbase that the fans will tear them apart if he dies for good.

I'm hoping that they simply won't dare to kill Cas off. They probably won't. I just tend to get nervous near the end of the season, especially if there is talk about wrapping up his storyline.

But, yeah Castiel-centric episode. Finally! Was about time. :D
