"Gaius Baltar, do you give yourself over wholy to the service of God and his angels?"
No, wait. I think I mixed something up there.
What I mean to say is that I finished the first season of Battelstar Galactica yesterday. About halfway through the season I thought it was becoming really good with those first real hints of a mythology. Flesh and Bones was particularly great. Easily my favourite episode of the season. Then I felt like it got stuck a little and I was getting slightly bored but the finale was very promising again so bring on season 2.
A few more thoughts:
I'm currently sorting through my Misha and Castiel pics because they're in complete chaos. I might take the opportunity to do a picspam later. But since it is my little home village's annual festival this weekend I'm not sure I'll find the time for anything. Please wish me luck for surviving the very, very bad music. The things you get through for family. My mother announced yesterday that she is planning a trip to the festival's infamous bar with my grandma and me. That promises a lot of fun. *g* Maybe my aunt will join us.

- Helo is clearly my favourite character. I have to admit that his storyline is the only one I truely care about so far. And since I stopped seeing Ballard a few epsiodes in I can now safely say that I really do like the character.
- I wish they'd stop with those sudden zooms and camera movements.
- What's the little preview at the beginning of every episode all about? It's like they're giving you a teaser after you've already decided to watch it.
- I love how they're allowed to use "frack" all the fracking time when it's completely obvious what it stands for.

Date: 2010-08-14 10:06 am (UTC)The little parallels between the mythology of BSG and SPN is something I often draw on, actually. So using that quote is pretty much awesome since while watching the fourth season of SPN I always went back to that.
I love Helo too, and his entire storyline is wonderful throughout the entire show even. He's one of my favorite characters, actually. Right alongside Six, Sharon and Gaius, of course. In fact all the characters and their storylines become far more interesting the more the seasons continue because of how connected they all are. You'll see when you get there. The show continues to be amazing.
I wish they'd stop with those sudden zooms and camera movements.
I can see why some people wouldn't like or care for them, but they're quite deliberate in telling the story. And it's something I hadn't seen before since Firefly which, again, also used it deliberately.

That's the uniqueness of BSG, they are quite unlike any other show that does that. Which would suck if someone is a hardcore spoilerphobe, lol.

It's something that I'm tickled by with the censors, you can't say the actual expletive and yet you may substitute it with something else, and it's seen many times in science fiction. There's also a compilation of how many times "frak" has been used on the show by season over on YouTube, and it's hilarious. XD

Date: 2010-08-14 10:44 am (UTC)The Cylons reminded me of Supernatural's angels from very early on. Which, I guess, would make Sharon Castiel and Helo Dean.

For some reason I didn't mind it that much on Firefly. Maybe I'll get used to it in BSG too, eventually.

Date: 2010-08-14 10:58 am (UTC)In my head, Castiel is the Six to Dean's Gaius Baltar. Or, alternatively, the Leoben to Dean's Kara. But I can also see some Sharon/Helo to the Dean/Castiel relationship, as well.

"I don't understand that reference."
And, yeah, I can see the Leoben to Dean's Kara. Not so sure about the Six/Gaius Baltar parallel yet but, hey, I've only seen one season of BSG so that might change soon.

Date: 2010-08-14 11:21 am (UTC)I'm currently trying to figure out if I should put all my Misha at conventions pics in my Misha folder or leave them in the folder for the respective convention. And what about my Castiel pictures? Misha or SPN folder?
Yeah, certainly a good type of issue.
