Silverstone 2009 - back down on earth

I really shouldn't be that disappointed. Jenson couldn't possibly win every race of the season. Or even finish on the podium every time. And coming in 6th is not a disaster. Far from it.
They had to have a problem or a bit of bad luck sometime. But did it have to be Silverstone of all places? Did it have to be his home GP? *sighs*
At least they know what the problem is and Ruben's 3rd place as well as Jenson's amazing last stint prove that, in general, the car is still quick. Because how much fun where those last few laps? Too bad they weren't enough to get past Rosberg and Massa. And hey, when you look at it that way, the podium was only 5 seconds away in the end.
Jenson pretty much lost that one to the tyres and Trulli's bad start. And the fact that I think of this race as "lost" just shows how spoiled I'm already.
And let's not forget: Congrats to Mark for another podium.
Results:
1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Mark Webber
3. Rubens Barichello
4. Felipe Massa
5. Nico Rosberg
6. Jenson Button
7. Jarno Trulli
8. Kimi Räikkönen
And now let's leave this race behind us and wait for the German one in three weeks where Jenson will spoil Vettel's party. ;)

Date: 2009-06-22 11:58 am (UTC)Is the fact that a german won something that cheers you up a bit?
At least he will get some points. Okay, I know that it`s not making it any better.
I saw just the fist 20 rounds so I can`t really make a comment about the race.
I`m sure that he will do better next race!!

Date: 2009-06-22 02:17 pm (UTC)The only kind of "patriotism" I know is for the British Isles. I don't think a German winning something has ever cheered me up. Especially not if said German driver is challenging my English driver for the championship.
I'm weird, I know. ;)
I`m sure that he will do better next race!!
Me, too. Won't it be poetic justice if he spoils the German party next race? *g*

Date: 2009-06-22 04:26 pm (UTC)I had the same thing with my huge love for Manchester United 10 years ago! I was so happy after they won the Champions League 1999 over Bayern Munich. But to be honest, I`m still happy if anyone wins against Bayern.
Is the "english patriotism" overarching all kinds of sports or just F1?

Knowing that you are as patriotic as I am when it comes to everything "german". Like you said so many times my precious, we're living absolutley in the wrong country.
Won't it be poetic justice if he spoils the German party next race? *g*
I'm for it! Hopefully Vettel will not make it to the podium. That would be really poetic justice if you ask me. Oh, I'm bitchy, am I? But to be honest, that would cheer me up.

Same here! :o)
*sigh* I'm still disappointed. And it's not helping at all, that we have to wait 3 weeks for the next race.

Date: 2009-06-23 07:23 am (UTC)Something must have gone really wrong there. Our families probably missed the point where they were supposed to emigrate to England a few generations ago or something.
But to be honest, that would cheer me up.
Me too. It's nothing personal. Vettel was just at the wrong place at the wrongest possible time.
And it's not helping at all, that we have to wait 3 weeks for the next race.
On the other hand, three weeks gives Ross more time to solve the problem. Just in case. But of course we'll bring enough hair dryers after Jenson asked us to. ;)
