"I wish you would be my brother again"

This has to be my favourite episode of the season so far. Oh, boys! Right now I'm crying and grinning like an idiot at the same time.
Gordon meets Bela. Sneaking up behind her which doesn't make a good first impression. Plus she's heard of him and the shock showing in her face when she hears his name tells me that she didn't hear about him being the nicest guy to hang out with.
She claims not to know where the Winchester boys are but when Gordon points a gun at her she doesn't have much of a choice. Of course being Bela she doesn't give the information away just like that. She sells it for a priceless mojo. And both of them walk away content.
Gordon is the second... person to call Sammy "anti-christ". I wonder where he got that information from. Ruby? But then she'd probably be exorcised by now.
I love Bela's reaction to it:
"I heard something about that. From my good friend, the easter bunny. Who's heard it from the tooth fairy."
I love Bela more and more each episode. *g*
The boys are on a vampire hunt. And the vampire turns out to be Harmony. ;)
Dean acts as bait and infects her with dead man's blood just in time before she bites him. Dean acts like he doesn't mind the danger at all and Sam is worried.
But they caught their vampire. Problem is: She doesn't know she's a vampire and really killed people. She thinks she's on drugs. It's an interesting idea that in the Supernatural universe vampirism works as some kind of virus. Pretty much like the virus in Croatoan.
Harmony Lucy doesn't seem able to control her bloodlust so they can't let her go. Too bad they don't know where Lenore is. She could take care of her and help her to live her undead life without killing people. Dean kills her and even though Sam doesn't like it at all and feels sorry for her he accepts that there's no other way.

Sam and Dean find the vampire in time to save his next victim but when they chase it they meet Gordon and Kubric and become the hunted. Again Dean acts as bait to give Sam the chance to escape. It's a little strange though that Gordon, a vampire hunter, doesn't hear Sam jump over the wall behind him. Then again: He doesn't hear the vampire either until it's too late.
Sam waits in the motel room for Dean to return. Worried sick. Until Dean walks in like nothing happened and he didn't just run right at the weapons.
So the boys found out the hard way that Gordon's out of jail. And it's not too hard to guess who told him where to find them. When Dean calls Bela she doesn't even try to deny it:
"Gordon Walker paid me to tell him where you were."
She sounds almost chipper. And I probabyl shouldn't find it as funny as I do. But I actually believe her when she says she didn't know it was such a big deal. Not that knowing would necessarily have stopped her. But all this is just like a game for her. Or at least she liked to pretend it is.
"Bela, if we make it out of this alive. The first thing I'm gonna do is kill you."
"You're not serious."
"Listen to my voice and tell me if I'm serious."

Oops. I don't think Bela had realized this whole deal was that serious. I guess she's still got a lot to learn when it comes to crossing paths with the Winchester boys and the people who love or hate them.
But don't worry, honey. Dean won't kill you as long as you're not intentionally trying to harm Sam. No matter how annoyed and angry he is with you.
When Gordon wakes up he finds himself tied up in the vampire's lair. And once again a vampire questions the world view of vampires being more evil and blood thirsty than humans. They tend to do that, don't they? I can't blaim him for hating Gordon. I'd hate someone who almost extinguished my entire species.
I saw Gordon's fate coming but it's still a brilliant move: He's turned into a vampire. One of the creatures he's hated all his life. Probably the worst thing you can do to him. I can't say I feel sorry for him.
Meanwhile the boys prepare themselves for Gordon. Dean is a little surprised when Sam agrees that they have to kill him just like that. Yeah, it should feel wrong but honestly: Gordon won't stop until he's killed Sam and prison obviously can't hold him. And luckily the whole "It's wrong because he's human" thing won't really a problem any more. Even though the boys don't know that yet. But even if Gordon still was human I think killing him'd count as self defense.
Seems like Bela feels bad about what she did. She calls Dean to tell him where exactly to find Gordon. She also tells them not to go after him. Like they'll listen to her. And like they could hide from him forever.
It's great how the next scene is shot from Gordon's perspective. With the noices and the blinding lights. It really gives you a feeling what it must be like having been turned. Still not feeling sorry for him though.
When Sam and Dean arrive at the warehouse Gordon is gone and the other freshly turned vampires have lost their heads. Literally. Obviously Gordon ripped them off with his bare hands.
And the vampire who turned him is crushed:
"I was desperate. You've ever felt desperate? I've lost everyone I ever loved. I'm staring down eternity alone. Can you think of a worse hell?"
"Well, there's hell."
"I wasn't thinking. I just... I didn't care any more. Do you know what that's like? When you just don't give a damn. It's like... it's like being dead already."
Well, technically... ;)
Dean can relate to this way more than he wants to admit.
Gordon goes back to Kubric and admits that he's been turned. At least he stays true to his own twisted morals I have to give him that. But before he lets Kubric kill him he wants to finish the job and kill Sam. Kubric doesn't want to let him go and dies while trying to kill Gordon. Have vampires in the Supernatural universe always been this strong? Or is it just the combined strength of Gordon being a trained hunter and a vampire? Anyway: He's an even deadlier threat now than he ever was before. *miep*
Sam destroys their phones and they get new ones so Gordon can't track them down. I hope they remember to give everyone their new numbers in case Bobby or Ellen want to call them. Or Sarah, because there's another haunted painting.
Dean wants to go after Gordon alone to keep Sam save but of course that's not going to happen as long as Sam has a say in it. They get into another argument about Dean's behaviour about the deal and his time running out. And this time, Sam gets through to his brother.
"Drop the attitude, Dean. Quit turning everything into a punch line. And you know something else: Stop trying to act like you're not afraid."
"I'm not."
"You're lying. And you may as well drop it because I can see right through you."
"You have no idea what you're talking about."
"Yeah, I do. You're scared, Dean. You're scared because your year is running out and you're still going to hell. And you're freaked."
"And how do you know that?"
"Because I know you."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Because I've been following you around my entire life. I mean, I've been looking up to you since I was four, Dean. Studying you, trying to be just like my big brother. So, yeah, I know you. Better than anyone else in the entire world. And this is exactly how you act when you're terrified. And I mean, I can't blame you. It's just..."
"What?"
"It's just I wish you would drop the show and be my brother again, cause... just cause."

That last sentence. *sobs* Oh, boys. Oh, Sammy. I think Dean finally starts to realize what he's doing to Sam. How much he's hurting him by trying to pushing him away and acting like he doesn't care about anything.
Dean doesn't really react to Sam's emotional outburst in the sense of using words but he reacts to it. It's amazing how Dean's voice changes all of a sudden to calm and reassuring big brother while he seems a little speechless at the same time. How it suddenly is about getting through this together again.
Unfortunately Gordon is even more twisted now having the excuse of being a monster. He threatens to kill some girl he's tied up if the boys don't turn up within 20 minutes. And of course the boys can't let her die even if that means walking straight into a trap.
They find the girl and just when they leave the warehouse the door closes trapping Sam inside and locking Dean out. That's so not good. The panic in Dean's voice is heartbreaking.
Sam's waling around in complete darkness and he's up against a really strong vampire. When Gordon claims that Sam's not human Sam doesn't really deny that, does he? He can't. After all there's still the demon blood. But as long as Sam doesn't give in to it that doesn't make him evil.
While Sam tries to stay alive despite not seeing a thing Dean has to fight the vampire girl. Good thing he's got the Colt with him.
When Sam and Gordon crash through the wall Gordon attacks Dean and bites him. And for a change Sam is the one to save his brother. Yes, the way he kills Gordon is ugly and bloody but beheading is the only way to kill a vampire and that cable was the only thing at hand. So no need to feel bad or guilty about that blood on your hands, Sammy. *hugs him*
And, oh, the peaceful last scene with Dean working on the Impala because her purr doesn't sound as healthy as it should.
It's so cute how confused Sam looks when Dean starts to explain to him what could cause the rattle. But then he understands what's going on and Dean even lets him work on his baby. Right there they're just brothers again. So much I can easily picture scenes like that when they were younger and Dean taught Sam things being the most awesome big brother one could possibly imagine.
"You should know how to fix it. You're gonna need to know these things for the future."
Reality kicking into that perfect scene. That hurt. Dean's still going to hell and he still thinks when the day comes Sam'll be okay without him. Sam saving him still isn't part of the plan so we're still not back to things being fine by far. But for now it's close enough.

"And besides it's my job, right? Showing my little brother the ropes."
Exactly. *smiles*
