Damn it, Kripke! I want my soul back!

I'll try to finally write my review about last weeks episode. *takes a deep breath*
Has "Then" or "The road so far" ever been longer? They're like showing us the whole season again.
"Now"
Some small Diner in the midle of nowhere. Is raining so much the diner almost seems to stand in the midle of a lake. That's probably why thay have that wodden pathway leading to the front door. Metallicar pulls in and Dean tells Sammy not to forget the extra onions and get some pie as well. At least he's the one paying. Sam enters the diner and Dean turns up the music when there's suddenly statics. Seriously, Dean, tapping the radio to see if it's broken... you know better than that. You know the signs.
Dean looks around for two seconds and when he looks back at the diner everyone including Sam is gone. Inside he finds all the staff and guests dead, their throats slit. The music is still playing, Sam's missing and there's sulphur at the door. Bad! And Dean leaves fingerprints at the door. Like the FBI thinking he killed a few more people doesn't make a difference any more. Dean calls for Sam but gets no answer.
Somewhere in some ghost town - probably literally - Sam wakes up. He looks confused but fine otherwise. *is relieved* He gets out his cell phone probably to call Dean but no reception out there in the midle of nowhere. When he checks the houses he suddenly hears a door and almost knocks down...

"Andy?"
"Sam!"
Monkey? ([Bad username or site: cellardoor081 / @ livejournal.com], that one's your fault).
Great, only seeing Andy there almost makes me cry now. I want him back!
Andy's completely freaked out. Obviously he just woke up "in freaking frontier land" as well but the only answer Sam has for him is. "I don't know." They're both so confused but at least they can try to figure this out together now. Once Andy calms down.
"What's the last thing you remember?"
"Honestly, my fourth bong load."
*hihi* The one after your eighth coffee?
Andy mentiones the smell of sulphur and I thinks that's when Sam really realizes that Dean's not there and that he has no idea what happened to him and if he's even alive. I'm so glad that we know that he's okay. I mean physically. Of course he's not really okay with his little brother missing.
They hear a scream and Sam forces a door open just to find Ava who seems even more freaked out than Andy and so relieved to see Sam. And, yeah, I still like her. I don't like who we find out later she has become but I like her. And I still think her and Andy'd have had OTP potential if the circumstances'd have been a lot different. Btw. Andy and Ava both look tiny next to Sam.

Ava claims that she just had woken up a few hours ago and that she remenbers having seen Sam two days earlier. Which really doesn't make sense since she'd be dead by now if she had been lying there unconscious for 5 months. She mentiones her fiance and Sam clearly has no idea how to tell her the truth. Luckily that's when Ava spots Andy and looks at him questioning.
"Hey! Andy. Also freaking out."
So all psykids we know of that generation who are still alive have found each other now but there are more. Meet Jake and Lilli who only know that last thing they remember they were in San Diego respectively Afghanistan. Sam tells them about what they all have in common.
"I have visions."
"Yeah, me too."
"And I can put thoughts into people's heads like make them do stuff. But don't worry I don't think it works on you guys. But get this. I've been practising, training my brain like meditation, right? So now it's not just thoughts I can beam out but images, too. Like anything I want like bam! people, they see it. Like this one guy, total dick, I use it on him: Gay porn, all hours of the day. It's just like... you just should see the look on his face."
*laughs* Oh, Andy... *cuddles him* Did I mention how much I love this guy. He's so cute and a little crazy. Awwww!
Lilli bitches about everyone but her having cool abilities. I don't like her. I mean, sure, having the ability to make people's heart stop by touching them and not being able to control it sucks out loud but it's not like that's Sam's or Ava's or Andy's fault.
Andy asks Sam who brought them there cause he knows if someone has any answers it's Sam. Sam tells them that what brought them there is a demon and they all look at him in disbelieve. Come on, guys, having the abilities you have it's still so hard to believe that demons exist?
Meanwhile Dean's searching for his brother asking Bobby for help. Starting with all places with demonic activities is a great idea. Only there are none whatsoever.

Ash calls and tells him that he has nothing either but then he admits that he did find something, something huge, but won't talk about it on the phone. After Ash hung up he takes a look at his watch. There has to be some significance with this close up view of his watch. Either it's the time (7:09) or the watch itself. I read a meta where someone pointed out that Ash didn't wear a watch in any other episode. Or they're really just trying to sent us off the scent and Ash didn't die. But who and why should fake Ash's death? I still have my idea from Hunted in the back of my head when I thought that Ash might actually be one of the "bad guys", Gordon's Roadhouse connection. But that doesn't seem to make any sense here either.
Sam tries to convince the other psykids that demons exist and tells them about the coming war but they don't really believe him. So I guess YED visited none of them in their dreams like he did with Ansem and Scott. Jake leaves on his own, Lilli doesn't seem sure what to do yet and Andy and Ava stay with Sam cause they know however crazy he sounds they're saver when they're with him.
Jake sees a little girl looking out of one of the houses and the next moment she disappears. Actually she looks more like a ghost that a demon. Jake enters the house and I really thought that'd be about the last thing we'd see of him. Now I wish it'd have been. There's a child's laughter and Jake tells her not to be scared. Cause she'd laugh like that if she was scared. He looks around, there's the sound of chalk on a chalkboard. When he looks there the board says "I will not kill" over and over again.
Just when she attacks Sam rescues him by dispelling her with an iron rod thingy. And now when the black smoke leaves through the door we can see that she is a demon, not a ghost, an acheri to be precise.
"Andy, you're with me or what?"
"Give me a minute. I'm still working through 'demons are real""
Compared to that 'I have an evil twin' was nothing, huh?
Sam recognises a bell that tells him where they are:
"Cold Oak, South Dakota. A town so haunted. Every single resident fled."
"Well, good to know we're somewhere so historical."
Lilli is still bitchy and decides to leave. Cause, yeah, walking through miles of woods alone is clearly so much saver than staying with the group and trying to figure something out together. When they try to convince her to stick with them she suddenly spits out she accidently touched and killed her girlfriend. Okay, that is really bad and I feel sorry for her about that. I don't even want to imagine what that must be like but it's still none of the others fault. Sam talks to her and he's so calm and understanding without pitying her. He really has to be the nicest guy in the world. I'd feel so much saver with him there for sure.

They search the town for any kind of weapon: Iron, silver, salt...
"Salt is a weapon?"
"It's a brave new world."
"Hopefully there's food in your world cause I'm freaking starving."
Maybe, but I'm afraid there won't be any coffee or bongs. Sorry, Andy.
When they enter one of the houses Lilli turns around and leaved on her own after all. Stupid girl. What is that necklace she's holding onto all the time? A gift from her girlfriend?
Dean and Bobby arrive at the Roadhouse. Or what's left of it. Sorry, Dean but asking if Bobby can see Ellen is a little dumb question. It's not like you can still identify any of the bodys. Dean finds someone wearing Ash's watch. You know, the one he never wore in any episode before. I still think there's something wrong here but we'll see soon (as in tomorrow). I hope Ellen wasn't in the Roadhouse when it burned down.
So there's no way now to find out what Ash knew.
The psykids don't find much. There's this iron thingy, a knife but at least lots of salt:

Andy looks so proud that he found it. Thiii!
Ava looks pretty stressed out and holding her head but she claims that she's just dizzy from hunger. Or from controlling demons. When you look closely you can see that she's changed by now.
They notice that Lilli's missing. Took you long enough. Ava literally jumps when Sam calls out for her like really loud. The hear the girl's laughter again and when they go outside Lilli's hanging from... what exactly is that?
Ava wants to leave and Andy agrees. But Jake and Sam tell them that Lilli probably died because she tried to leave. Sam seems a little harsher now. There's no time for comforting. Right now he has to concentrate on keeping them alive.
"You know, I'm thinking about how much Dean'd help right now. I'd give my arm for a working phone."
Sam seems calm but I bet he really isn't. He's losing control over the situation (if he ever really had it) and he's so used to Dean backing him up. But now he's pretty much on his own and has to take care of the others without help. Of course Jake is a soldier but Sam hardly knows him. He can trust Andy but how much can he really help with his lack of experiance. And Ava really isn't any help at all.
Actually, Andy can help. He's practised his powers and is willing to at least try to reach Dean with them by concentrationg on a receipt Dean touched. D. Hasselhoff? You're kidding, right?
Anyway, it works. Yeah, Andy! Andy shows Dean the bell and the vision Dean gets is pretty similar to the ones Sam gets including the headaches. So maybe Sam got his visions from the YED? Or from someone with Andy's powers from the generation before his? But then the visions wouldn't really be Sam's power and there had to be something else. Like the telekinesis he once used. Hm... there are still a lot of questions about those powers.
Dean refuses to believe that he just had a vision.
"Come on, I'm not some psychic."
But then the vision continues. Dean sees Sam and if visions are the way he can find his brother then: Well, so he gets visions. Who cares.

Even if they hurt like hell.
"That was about as much fun as getting kicked in the jewels."
Sam and Jake try to provide themselves some more weapons and we finally learn what Jake's ability is: superstrength.
"I never told anybody. It's just a grace."
"Yeah, grace is relative."
Jake also sees through Sam's calmness and knows how freaked Sam really is. And who can blame him. Out there in Cold Oak, a demon trying to kill them and him feeling responsible for everyone and having to deal with the situation without Dean. He fills the role Dean normally fills for him and realizes that Dean most likely isn't always as sure that everything is gonna be alright as he says. Dean may just be pretending for him sometimes like he does now for Andy and Ava:
"Wanna know the truth? I got this brother, right? And he's always telling him how he's gonna watch out for me. How everything is gonna be okay, you know, kinda like I've been telling them. I don't know if I believe it this time."

They use the salt to build themselves a relatively save haven in one of the houses. Ava brings up her fiance again and Sam fugures that he has to tell her sooner or later. I love the little fact that he grabs her shoulder when he tells her that her fiance is dead trying to at least keep her grounded a little. When she breaks into tears I think that it may at least partly be real emotions. I don't think YED told her 'Oh, by the way, I killed your fiance' and though she has changes over the last 5 months she's still Ava and she loved him.
So they're sitting there and waiting. Andy's asleep with his head on the table.

*ruffles his hair* And Sam looks so exhausted. But when he sees YED standing in the door he's wide awake again. Or not. He's dreaming. So we have no idea if what we learn next is actually real. But it probably is. Sam looks terrified and angry at the same time. The way he moves all tense and not losing sight of YED for even a second.
YED tells Sam that this is a competition and that only one of them is gonna make it out alive, the one soldier he needs to lead his armee. He also tells Sam that he is his favourite but I bet he tells that to everyone of the psykids. Though Sam does have his training but if there is someone who can beat him why should YED care. After all that's what that competition is for: To find out who of them really is the strongest. We also learn that there are more generations but we already kinda knew that.

I think I never before saw that much hate in Sam's eyes. And it scares me cause I think that's exactly what YED is going for right there. Pushing him. Again.
He also tells Sam that Mary just had to die because she walked in at the wrong time. And then he even takes it a step further and shows Sam the night when his mother died. And we see how the YED gave Sam of his blood that night. I'm really glad that they resolved that whole Sammy has demon blood in him that way and didn't make him the demon's son. Sam and Dean'd always be brothers no matter what what I'd have hated to find out that they're actually just half brothers and Sam and John are just way too alike to not be father and son.
What I wonder now is, if Sammy got his powers through YED's blood - then how did he chose the children - or if the powers are his from his birth (from his mother?) and YED just added... something. Like a connection or whatever.
We also learn something else: Mary did know YED. I read a theory somewhere that she may have been one of the psykids of another generation but then she'd either be dead or the surviving one that killed all the others, wouldn't she? And that just doesn't seem to make any sense.
Thinking about Croatoan now I think that the test was for Dean. Of course it could be to test Sammy's demon blood but YED already knows that he has that. He was the one giving it to him.
Jake wakes Sam because Ava is missing. Why the hell do they leave Andy behind when they look for her. What happened to sticking together? And then they even split up. That's about the last thing I'd do in that situation.
I don't want to see the next scene. *miep*
Andy takes a look outside but when he realizes that he's outisde the salt protected room he carefully steps in again. He looks so sleepy. He turns around and sees Ava break the salt line. He asks her if she didn't hear them and looks confused and then scared when Ava summons the demon. And before he can react it's already to late.
Andy... *sobs*
But you know: At least he never gave in and I'm a hundred percent sure he never would have turned into a killer. He stayed the nice and a little crazy guy he was till the end. I'll miss him.
Ava starts screaming and Sam's back in the house in a second. When Sam sees the broken salt line he knows what is going on. Andy wouldn't break the line so it has to be Ava. When she realises that she can't fool Sam any more her behaviour changes completely. She tells him that she started killing the other psykids to survive and then it became easier and fun even. Five months that changed her completely just because of the situation she was put into. That's sort of what I had expected after the end of Hunted. YED turned her and he did a really good job. First she just wanted to survive and then after a while when her abilities grew stronger she wanted the power. She wasn't strong enough to fight it so she gave in and played along to YED's rules. In a way that's just tragic and sad. Maybe Sam was right after all: "Right circumstances [almost] everyone is capable of murder."
Just when Ava summons the demon again to kill Sam Jake comes in and breaks her neck. So I guess they're even now in saving each others lives but Jake now has killed as well while Sam didn't even consider to kill Ava even after he'd learned who she'd turned into.
Seems like the psykids end up killing each other if they want to or not.
Dean and Bobby arrive at the woods. From there they have to leave Metallicar behind and walk. Hurry up, Dean!
In Cold Oak it's now just Sam and Jake left and with the demon gone there could be a chance for them to leave now. But unfortuanetly YED already messed with Jake's head for too long using his instinct to survive. Sam tries everything. He even puts down his knife leaving himself vulnerable to get a chance to save them both. But Jake doesn't listen. He attacks Sam and what chance does Sammy stand against superstrength even with his training? Actually a better one than you'd think. He manages to knock Jake down and then stands there with the choice to kill the guy who just tried to kill him or to walk away. He choses the latter. And so in the end after being so afraid of turning evil and Dean not being able to save him he saves himself. Because he has a choice and he is strong enough. And even knowing what'll happen next I'm so glad about that and I'm so proud of him. But on the other hand: Did I ever really have any doubt? Not really.
And that's the moment when Dean arrives. Dean is so happy to see Sam, Sam is so happy to see Dean and everything could be fine - you know, "fine" - but Jake comes to his senses again and Dean can barely tell Sam to look out before Jake stabs him in the back and runs away. I'm not sure if it's such a smart idea of Bobby to follow him alone but I don't really care that much right now.
Sam falls to his knees and... hell, it's so hard to watch this scene but even harder to write about it. Dean catches his brother and wraps his arms around him. The music kills me and Dean's shaking voice even more.
"Sam, Sam, Sam. Hey, hey... Come here, come here, let me look at you. Oh, hey look, hey look at me it's not even that bad. It's not even that bad, alright? Sammy? Sam! Hey, listen to me, we're gonna patch you up okay... You'll be as good as new. Huh? I'm going to take care of you. I'm going to take care of you. I gotcha. It's my job, right, watch out for my pain-in-the-ass little brother.... Sam... Sam.... Sam! Sammy! No.. Oh god. oh god... Sam!"

The last time Dean calls Sam's name. I think it's the worst thing I've ever heard. But, you know, it's gonna be okay. I don't know how but it's gonna be okay. I trust Dean. He will fix it. I know he will.
*rolls into a sobbing ball of misery and desperatly tries to find her way back into denial*
