My mother and I were driving home and and it ran right in front of our car. There was nothing we could have done. The moment my mother started to break we had already hit it. From what it sounded like pretty badly. We even lost a little plastic part of the car but one that comes off pretty easily. Maybe, hopefully that was the little cat's luck.
It turned around and ran back to were it came from. The things adrenaline can enable you to.
We instantly turned around as well to look for it. If we'd have found it and brought it to the vet then I'd probably at least feel like we did everything we could. But there was a lot of high grass and bushes and stuff so we didn't have the slightest chance.
For all we know it may lie somewhere out there dying a few meter from where I walked to look for it.
The only thing I can hope for is that it had enough strength and adrenaline to make it's way back home. I really cling to that hope right now.
I try not to let the thought that it could have been one of my girls really make it's way into my conciousness. I can't think about that.
