"There's a war coming"

So, here we are, finally learning the secret. Or not. Or part of it. Or whatever.
Scott Kerry tells his psychiatrist that he's able to electrocute everything he touches and that some yellow-eyed man came to him in his dreams and told him to do aweful things but Scott said no. I like that the psyhiatrist doesn't believe him but still doesn't take his hand.
A little later Scott is stabbed in a parking lot.
Then we're back at the lake from "Croatoan" and Dean spills everything he knows:
"Before Dad died he, he told me something. Something about you."
"What? Dean, what did he tell you?"
"He said that he wanted me to watch out for you, to take care of you."
"He told you that a million times."
"No, this time was different. He said that I had to save you."
"Save me from what?"
"He just said that I had to save you, that nothing else mattered. And that if I couldn't, I'd..."
"You'd what, Dean?"
"That I'd have to kill you. He said that I might have to kill you, Sammy."
"Kill me? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know."
"I mean, he must have had some kind of reason for saying it, right? Did he know the demon's plans for me? Am I supposed to go Darkside or something? What else did he say, Dean?"
"Nothing, that's it, I swear."
I believe that's everything Dean knows which means John actually did not tell him the secret. What the hell? John knew the secret. He said so when summoning YED but he "just" told Dean what to do and what to expect but NOT the actual secret. He decided to take this to the grave. "You may have to kill your brother, Dean, but why exactly... well, you can figure that one out by yourself."? Why? I don't get it.
Sam's furious. Because Dean didn't tell him earlier. I don't really think that's the reason. I don't really think he's angry at Dean. I think he's scared like hell and feeling like he's losing control. And so is Dean:
"Damnit, Sam, this whole thing is spinning out of control. All right? You're immune to some weirdo demon virus, and I don't even know what the hell anymore. And you're pissed at me, I get it. That's fine, I deserve it. But we lay low until we figure out our next move, okay?"
"Forget it."
"Sam, please, man. Hey, please. Just give me some time. Give me some time to think, okay? I'm begging you here, please. Please."

Dean begging is something I didn't think'd happen ever. But he does. Because there's nothing more important in his life than his brother and he can't lose him. He has to save him. Period. There is no other option. The problem just is that he first has to figure out a way to make sure he can. "How do you save someone from themselves"?
Sam nods but later he leaves without a word. He leaves Dean behind because while Dean needs to keep his brother save Sam needs to know the truth just as much. He can't just sit there and wait. Of course he doesn't take the Impala. He wouldn't do that to Dean.
We see Sam walk into an old, dark house where he triggers a granate. The camera stays on Sam when it explodes. This scene has a very low number on the list of things I didn't want to see. Even if it's just a vision, Ava's vision in this case. I know they can't let Sam die or else the show would be pretty much over but seeing him die in this vision still shocked me and throughout the whole episode I wanted to tell him to leave. I was scared. Nevertheless.
Sam goes to the Roadhouse for help. Ellen tells him that Dean's worried sick and that Jo's somewhere hunting. And suddenly I like the Roadhouse just fine. And I start trusting Ellen again. When she learned about Sam's abilities I wasn't too sure what would come of it.
Ash does a search about psychics like Sam, born in 1983, who's mothers died in a nursery fire and he comes up with 4 names. Just four! Sam, Max, Andy and... Scott Kerry.
Ellen tells Sam that she will call Dean but Sam asks her not to.
"Ellen. I'm trying to find answers, about who I am. And my brother means well, but he can't protect me from that. Please."
You know, Sam, maybe Dean can't protect you from that. But he can try. And Ellen does call Dean and tells him where to find Sam.
Meanwhile Sam tries to find out more about Scott. He doesn't find much except for his psichiatrist name and a collage of yellow eyes. Creepy.

Back at his motel he meets Ava who tells him that he's in danger. She's a little frantic while trying to tell Sam about her visions and she's also a little bit annoying but in a cute way. I think I like her.
"I don't believe this."
"Oh, oh, of course you don't. You think I'm a total nutjob."
"Wait, no, no, no, I mean, you must be one of us."
"Sorry, one of, one of who?"
"One of the Psychics. Like me. Look, Ava, I have visions too, all right? So we're connected."
"Okay, so, you're nuts. That's great."

She had a vision of Scott's death, her mother's fine and she's confused. She asks Sam to leave town. I second that. *raises hand* But of course Sam won't leave. He wants to know the truth. Can you say obsessed? And he asks Ava for help so he can steal Scott's file.
Dean watches Sam and Ava, relieved that Sam's fine. This scene... it's okay for Dean that Sam doesn't know he's there as long a he still can watch out for his little brother.

Sam and Ava learn a little more about YED's plans:
"He has plans for me. He says there's a war coming. That people like me, we're going to be the soldiers. Everything's about to change."
See? I think that's something John knew and he should have told Dean about. And I still don't get why he didn't. Ava has a very legitimate question:
"But how can we turn into that?"
Okay, so far no one said which side they're supposed to fight on but since it's the demon who has plans for them I guess that's pretty obvious. But why should Sam ever do that? Or Ava? or Andy?
That moment Gordon starts shooting at Sam and Ava from across the street. Dean saves them because that's the brother he is - "You do that to my brother, I'll kill you!" - but Gordon knocks him out.
When Sam calls his brother, Dean's tied to a chair and not able to tell Sam what's going on. Well, at least not straight ahead.
"My brother's in trouble."
"What?"
"He gave me a codeword. Someone's got a gun on him."
"Codeword?"
"Yeah. Funkytown... Well, he thought of it. It's kind of a... long story."
Sam sends Ava home so she's save. She tells him again that he's walking straight into her vision.
"Doesn't matter. It's my brother."
Yeah, Sam, I know. But you won't be a big help for Dean if you're dead.
Gordon tells Dean that all this is not about revenge:
"This isn't personal. I'm not a killer, Dean. I'm a hunter. And your brother's fair game."
Still no shades of grey in your life, huh, Gordon?
"Anyway. This demon tells me there are soldiers to fight in this coming war. Humans, fighting on hell's side. You believe that? I mean, they're psychics, so they're not exactly pure humans, but still. What kind of worthless scumbag have you got to be to turn against your own race?
But you know the biggest kick in the ass? This demon said I knew one of them. Our very own Sammy Winchester."
Well, I guess now someone said which side they are supposed to fight on. I can't believe Gordon is saying all this. Okay, I can believe it, it's Gordon. And he really does believe that crap he's saying, doesn't he? Sam did not "turn against his own race". Nor did Scott. Gordon is a killer whatever he says and whowever he tries to justify what he's doing. Maybe Sam has this dark destiny but Gordon isn't even willing to give him a chance to fight it. So far Sam's completely innocent. And killing him isn't revenge or justice or precaution or anything but murder. *is angry*
Now we are where Ava's vision started with one tiny little difference: Sam knows what happened in the vision. The problem is: Dean doesn't know that. And he's desperate. It kills him but he can't do a thing to help Sam. I can't think of anything that'd be worse for Dean.

There's an explosion, then another one. And Dean's world comes crashing down.
Gordon goes to the back door and suddenly finds a gun pointing at his head.
"Drop the gun!"

Yeah, Sam! There's a fight and in the end Gordon's lying on the floor and Sam's pointing a gun at him. But he doesn't shoot because that's not who he is. Sam's not a saint but he's no killer either.
Sam unties Dean. That'd be the point where you hug, guys. But of course they don't. *sighs*

Sam keeps Dean from killing Gordon.
"Trust me. Gordon's taken care of."
Erm, okay...
They don't get far before Gordon starts shooting at them.
"Come on! You call this taken care of?"
Exactly my thoughts. Until the police turns up and Gordon gets arrested.
"Anonymous tip."
"You're a fine upstanding citizen, Sam."
Awwww, Sammy!
Back at the car Dean calls Ellen because Gordon said he had Roadhouse connections but Ellen can't help him. I trust her. But to be honest when I think about it I'm not 100 percent sure about Ash which doesn't mean I think it was him. If he's the guy he seems to be there's no way he'd have told Gordon a single word about Sam. But do we really know him good enough to say for sure if he is who he seems to be? Just a thought.
Sam tries to call Ava but he can't get a hold of her.
"Dude, you ever take off like that again..."
"What? You'll kill me?"
"That's so not funny."
"All right. All right. So where to next, then?"
"One word: Amsterdam."
"Dean!"
"Come on, man, I hear the coffeeshops don't even serve coffee."
"I'm not just gonna ditch the job."
"Screw the job. Screw it, man, I'm sick of the job anyway. I mean, we don't get paid, we don't get thanked. The only thing we get is bad luck."
Funny how things can change. *smiles*
"Well, come on, dude, you're a hunter. I mean, it's what you were meant to do."
"Oh, I wasn't meant to do anything, I don't believe in that destiny crap."
"You mean you don't believe in my destiny."
"Yeah, whatever."
Cause if destiny wants your brother to turn evil then screw destiny. They're going to fight this.
"Look, Dean, I've tried running before. I mean, I ran all the way to California and look what happened. You can't run from this. And you can't protect me."
"I can try."
"Thanks for that."
Awwwwwwwwwwww!
"Look, Dean, I'm gonna keep hunting. I mean, whatever is coming, I'm taking it head-on. So if you really want to watch my back, then I guess you're gonna have to stick around."
"Bitch."
"Jerk."

That whole scene made me smile and gave me this warm feeling. It made me believe again that things can be alright in the end. Okay, maybe not completely alright because there's so many things they will never get back like their lives and people they loved, but, you know, still alright.
They drive by Ava's to check on her and what they find instantly takes a part of this warm feeling away again: Ava's fiance's dead soaked in blood, there's sulphur on the windowstill and on the floor is Ava's engagement ring. I'm trying to figure out what that means, what Sam thinks it means when he finds the ring.

Is Ava dead? Or did she turn evil and maybe even kill her fiance? Unfortuanetly the latter sounds more likely to me.
Last but not least I have a little... well, it's not really a theorie. More a collecting things we know by now.
