I wasn't going to watch the sneak peek, but then tumblr started to freak out about Dean saying or hinting that Cas is dead, and I wanted to know what was said exactly. So I watched it after all.
Am I the only one who is now more convinced than ever that Cas is alive?
All this evading, and turning away from Sam, and then: "I saw enough"?
Just like they saw enough at that lake?
My guess is, either Dean knows that Cas is alive but doesn't want to let anyone know for some - probably dark bordering on pitch-black - reason, or Dean actually does believe that Cas is dead. Until our angel will make a "surprise" reappearance, let's say about mid season?
This is Cas we are talking about. Cas who, not matter how bad things are, fights on. Even when his back is against the wall and his only options are bad and worse. Even when he is too broken to fight. Even when climbing out of one mess sends him right into the next one. As long as there is just a hint of grace left in him he will find some hope somewhere and follow his path of free will. And one of these days, the next dark abyss he falls into will not be quite as deep as the last one. And then one day, maybe, just maybe, he'll even find some peace.
I don't know if it's because I trust Jeremy Carver, or because I'm just tired of spending too much time worried sick about Cas when we don't know anything for certain but I believe that our angel is alive and kicking. The only real question is whether it's still down in Purgatory, on Earth, or back in Heaven.
