Brazil 2006 - Happy ending

It was a great last race. Exciting and with a result I'm really content with. I said that I'd be sort of happy when this strange season is finally over. And I am. But on the other hand I start missing formula 1 already. The long, long winter break lies ahead of us till the new season starts and everything is back to zero. Till again anything can happen.
This time I won't really write about the race but rather my personal review of this season:

Jenson: An awesome last race. 14th seems to be his lucky place to start.
That was really pretty much the perfect end for him for this season. A season with ups and downs and in the end he finished 6th in the championship. In the middle of the season it seemed like Honda was on their way backwards through the field. But it got better in Hockenheim with a good Quali I saw live and a 4th place in the race. And then the season's highlight of course: Hungary! It still feels sort of unreal that Jenson finally won his first race there. A perfect first victory. Sadly it was pretty much the only highlight in a season I otherwise probably won't like to look back at. Now I hope for many more victories to come and at least one world championship. I know that he can and I'm sure that he will be world champion. Go, Jense!
Juancho: It's okay as long as I don't think about it but I so miss him. I still can hardly believe that he's gone, that we will most likely never again see him in a formula 1 car. I wanted to see him become world champion. I wanted to see him race the way he used to again with this colombian fire of his. He is special. Not just as a driver but also because he was the reason I started watching formula 1 in the first place. And without him I may never have started to write PMs with
elenya82 and then we wouldn't be friends now. I don't even want to think about that. *hugs elenya* And he still finished 8th in the championship. Great result for someone who just drove a little more than 1/2 of the races.
Mark: I'm a little disappointed about Mark this season. The poor guy had a lot of bad luck this year but when he hadn't he was almost always invisible. Williams obviously really was a mistake and I hope he'll have a better season with Red Bull next year and then show again what he can do and again be the driver who had this great results with a Minardi some years ago.
Jacques: I never saw him win and as far as I can remember I didn't even see him on the podium. Needless to say that I didn't see him become world champion. I'm really sad about that. He deserved better than having to leave like that. Losing him and Juancho so suddenly are the reasons that despite Jenson's victory this season will probabyl stay in my mind as the sadest season ever.
Christian Klien: Indianapolis when he took the blame for the accident with Mark and his driver appearance in Hockenheim made me realise that he's probably one of the nicest drivers in formula 1. Shortly after that he had to go. I'm tempted to say: Typical! I hope we see him again next season either with Spyker or as Honda's test driver.
Anthony Davidson: It was fun watching him drive on fridays. I think he did a great job and he finally deserves a chance to race. I hope he'll get that with Super Aguri next season. I think things are looking good. And maybe if Rubens really retires after 2007 he can be second driver with Honda in 2008? Since Jenson and Jacques as team mates sadly isn't really an option any more Jenson and Ant'd be my dream team.
Championship: I had such a bad feeling about yesterday's race. Luckily it was wrong and the Bad World really took a break. Alonso is world champion and this once I'm celebrating with him. Cangratulations, Alonso. But don't get used to it. I'm done keeping my fingers crossed for you. Truce is over! And next season Jenson hopefully will kick your butt.
Because I thought it was funny: This is how the Main Post thought the last race'd end. (It's in German, sorry. If someone wants me to translate it for you just leave a comment and I'll try)
That's it. The 2006 formula 1 season is over. Goodbye f1. See you again next year.

Date: 2006-10-28 09:22 am (UTC)I hope Jenson will make a huuuuuuuge step towards the championship, he definitely deserves more than this 1 victory, I really like him and he seems to be a nice guy.
I don't even know what to think of next season...for me it will be less exciting. I have been a Schumacher fan since the season he won his first championship and it will be sad to see Formula1 without him :( It doesn't matter if you like him or hate him, you just can't deny that he is one of the best drivers ever. I hope the next season will be as great as this one, I liked the close decisions... See ya next season!

I really think Jenson's ready for the championship so it's up to Honda to give him a car that's fast and reliable enough.
I hope the next season will be as great as this one, I liked the close decisions... See ya next season!
That'd be great. On the other hand if Jenson was one of the drivers fighting for the championship and it was that close... I'll probably die of a heart attack or something. ;)
