THAT Spoiler

It's the middle of the night, I'm sick, so I'm pretty sure I should be asleep, but that's not going to happen right now.
In case you live under a rock and haven't heard yet: Misha will be back on Supernatural for 7x17 and maybe/at least two more episodes after that, depending on who you ask. Jim Michaels says 'maybe' so I'm going to be cautious and go with that for now. He is also my main source of the news, which makes it pretty damn official and believable.
Now, I'm not as ecstatic, jumping with joy as a lot of people I've seen in Twitter. Mainly, because it is very specifically stated that Misha is coming back. It is Castiel I want.
But:
1) Misha on my screen is always a good thing.
2) There is hope that, even if Misha will be back as someone "unexpected" (aka not Cas), he will be back as Cas eventually.
3) Most importantly, there is no way they can bring Misha back and not at least
address what happened to Castiel. Sam and Dean will certainly not meet someone who looks exactly like Castiel, and just go "Oh, hey, you kinda looked like that guy we used to know.". There has to be a proper reaction. I can't be sure that I will like that reaction, but it is at least a start, and I hope that it will either bring us back our angel, alive - that's the best case scenario - or that we will at least get closure.
And by the way, when I say "alive" I don't necessarily mean back on the show, I merely mean alive.
This news doesn't mean that everything is alright again all of a sudden. But at least there is new hope, at least now things might turn out somewhat okay. It won't undo what happened, but I am willing to forgive Show just like I am willing to forgive Sam and Dean if I just see them try, actually try, to give Castiel fair treatment after everything he did.

Date: 2011-12-06 02:22 am (UTC)My thoughts exactly. The fact that the show has been neglecting to even acknowledge Castiel's existence, having any kind of reaction from the boys, from Dean in particular, is worth something. I know in interviews they've said that they will be dealing heavily with the loss of Castiel (which aside from Dean's excessive drinking/self-destructive behavior and the mention of Cas in that one episode, we haven't really gotten at all) so perhaps this might be it? We can only hope this will bring up the things they haven't talked about all season long.
And ITA with you, this doesn't magically make everything okay. The show still fucked up royally and this won't automatically erase all the shit that has happened, and is continuing to happen. I still have my doubts that this is merely a ~ploy~ to get the audience back for more ratings, but that's just my bitter and angry feelings towards this show and the bullshit they have pulled time and time again. We hardly know what this appearance will mean, what he will play, if as Cas again or "another" character as Sera Gamble tries to suggest he'll be in interviews, so they could be lying to us and his appearance could just be a waste of time. But yeah, idk.
I just want closure for Castiel. I love him so much, his departure and treatment of his character hurt me so much, that if they don't at least give him the proper kind of send-off that he deserves there will be more raging from me and many others, without a doubt.

Date: 2011-12-06 07:56 am (UTC)I hope it will be, because so far I haven't seen any dealing. I pretty much still feel like I'm waiting for the season to start properly. I can't even try to move on and concentrate on the rest of the storyline as long as that hasn't happened.
I don't now what to expect either. I want to hope because I desperately need this to be fixed as much as still possible, but, yeah, I can't completely trust them any more either, so I will most likely stay at least slightly suspicious until the episodes have aired.

Date: 2011-12-06 08:07 am (UTC)The part that I find most reassuring is that, in this article, Misha is the first one to say that Castiel will return.
The "somewhat changed" part has me worried though. We have seen so many sides and versions of Castiel over the year, that it is probably something fundamental. My first thought was human, followed by memory loss.
We will have to wait and see. There are just so many possibilities. I guess I can deal with a lot of them, as long as he is still fundamentally our Castiel, at least eventually.
