In Edlund We Trust

This is the first time since the premiere that I feel like writing about a new episode. I missed this feeling.
Levitathans: Finally, we get a glimpse of a bigger plan, and of how smart these things are, and all that without the show giving too much away. Dick is out there to gain influence, power, and people's trust and no one expects a thing. We don't know what they are aiming for, but it is obvious now that whatever it is, it is well planned, well prepared, something huge, and it won't end well for humanity if they succeed.
The Leviathans we met in this episode give a completely different vibe from the ones we met in the premiere, but they finally feel like a threat again.
The whole plan reminds me a little of Pestilence's plan to unleash the Croatoan virus so far. I hope this will take a different direction.
I'm also not sure if Dick really is the boss. He is pretty high up the ladder, not doubt, and he is the face they show in public. But what strikes me as a little odd, is that the other Leviathans talk about him as "Dick" when it was always "the boss" before.
The only thing I don't get: Shouldn't the Leviathan's have figured out their weakness called Borax right now, and consequently not let that stuff anywhere near their centre of operations?
Dean: I love the talk between Bobby and Dean in the van. It was heartbreakingly brilliant. Dean claiming he is fine, like he always does, and Bobby not willing to just listen to that any more, because he sees that Dean is close to giving up, and in their line of work that's guaranteed to get him killed sooner or later.
"I've been to enough funerals, I mean it. You die before me, and I'll kill you."
Which more or less brings us to Cas. Again, there wasn't much in this episode, but there was something. And something that felt right. First Dean on his gooey meat high claiming: "Cas, black goo, I don't even care any more" and therefore finally admitting that he does care when he is not on Leviathan induced drugs.
And a bit later the talk between Sam and Bobby in the car about worrying about Dean "ever since [Sam's] head broke, and we lost Cas. Not since Cas betrayed him or some other nonsense, but since they lost him, but since they lost him, a friend.
Things will not be okay for me until we get Castiel back, because he still deserves a better conclusion to his story. But for now, until we get him back, this is really all I'm asking for. Just a mention or two during an episode, that shows that they remember him as the friend he was, and that they still care, and that they really do feel the loss.
Sam is not as fine as he likes to claim either but he's keeping it together for Dean. I think he suffers from his hallucinations, but like he says, he knows what they are, and he knows he can't do a thing about them and neither can Bobby or Dean, so he suffers quietly. When he talks about it to Bobby, and presses his thump into the palm of his hand, his reminder of what is real, he looks tired and terrified. And for the first time since we last saw Lucifer, I'm under the impression that Sam is barely holding it together.
Last but not least Bobby. That was one hell of a cliffhanger, and I can only hope that they don't decide to isolate the boys even more by taking Bobby from them as well. But I also hope that they won't start next episode with us finding out that Bobby is fine in the first five minutes. We'll see.
I'm still skeptical when it comes to the season as a whole, but this episode was really good, and (almost) everything I want and expect this show to be. Thank you, Ben.

This, right here. I've seen a lot of this sentiment on my flist today, but really, if people just look at Dean, they can see what losing Castiel has done to him. It's all right there in his face, in his attitude, in his actions, for all to see. But it's still a very nice thing that Show has gone and actually put the loss into words, actually mention Castiel's name every so often. We can thank Ben Edlund for that. :)
. . . and really. Good to see you back!
