gwaevalarina.k.a. this is possibly wishful thinking but I don't care a.k.a there is always hope.
After the latest interviews mit Sera (one, two)? Not gonna lie, I had a bit of a panic attack. Until I fortunately decided to read them again more closely.
Of course, this could just be Sera trying to string the Castiel and Misha fans along with false hope. That is entirely possible. Whether she is or not, this is pretty cruel. Or do they truly still not understand what they are doing to people?
But let's for a moment pretend, that the world is a nice place, where I get what I want, and where this isn't denial, and where Sera means every single word she says, here is what I call:
Dean's secret will be that he has some sort of nightmares about what happened to Cas, or that he just generally isn't handling it well at all but won't tell Sam or Bobby. Either that, or he will hear Castiel trying to talk to him in his true voice because Cas doesn't have a vessel at the moment - and he promised Jimmy he would leave Claire alone. Most likely Castiel couldn't ask Claire for permission even if he wanted, because the Leviathan will still keep Cas hostage. They have been described as smart, they will not just let an angel go, and certainly not this angel if they really do have plans for Dean like the have hinted.
In later episodes, Dean will see Cas, but he will continue to firmly believe that it's just dreams, when in reality it is either the Leviathan messing with him, or Cas who called in a few favours and got his vessel back, or Cas visiting Dean in his dreams in this form he knows Dean will be familiar with. Or all of the above. And Cas will try to convince Dean that it is really him, that he is alive, and a lot will depend on Dean believing him.
And Jimmy? I hope for his sake that he is long gone, and I'm sure he certainly is now.
Yes, yes, a lot of wishful thinking, I know. But it is all there in the interview if you read a little between the lines:
Is it safe to label him as dead? Or did you purposely leave it ambiguous?
Both things are true, actually. We purposely left it ambiguous. In the life of the show, [Sam and Dean] just suffered the death of one of their best friends, something that they are dealing with in a serious and substantial way.
What she basically says here, is that the show will deal with it as if he is dead, that Sam and Dean will believe that he is dead. Doesn't mean that he is.
I also hope they will live up to the promise that it is and will continue to be a huge deal.
Is there a chance that Misha could come back not as Cas, but in some other incarnation?
Oh definitely. It has always been our intention to bring back Misha in some form. When we called Misha to let him know that we had this plan for the character, we talked about this on a longer schedule than in these first two episodes. We certainly can’t say too much about where the story is going to go, but we love Misha and want to continue to work with him.
It's the interviewer here who assumes that if Misha comes back he will not come back as Cas. And yeah, he may come back as the Leviathan boss first, before he comes back as Cas.
Thing is, if they indeed bring Misha back then, at the very least, that has to be about Cas. Sera just said that the vessel disintegrated, so Misha can't come back as Jimmy. If anything, a disintegrated vessel should suggests that Cas can come back but Misha can't, not the other way round.
A disintegrated vessel does not kill an angel. We saw that with both Anna and Raphael. They both lost their vessels, they were both just fine.
Does the world of angels still factor into the season, or is that chapter closed?
The epic War in Heaven storyline has pretty much come to an end — at least for now — but individual stories that include angels that are more character-based or more about the impact that the previous wars have had, we have plans for those.
That's interesting and certainly unexpected. And again a sign for Castiel's comeback, or at least his playing a major role. In the other interview Sera says that the story Castiel had been brought in for was finished. Now, that doesn't really fit with a plan of bringing angels back, even just in individual stories, does it?
So what I think she says here, is that the war in Heaven storyline is over, but not the angel storyline in general. Which again means, there is absolutley no need to get rid of Cas for good. It would be stupid really if you still want to have angels on the show, because Cas is the connection between the Winchester storyline and the angel storyline.
This also gives me some hope for Gabriel - after all, mythologically, he is the one said to kill the Leviathan, right? - and maybe even a tiny little bit I-know-it's-wishful-thinking hope for Balthazar.
I'm not sold. I have been burnt too much by this show recently to just have faith, and be more than cautiously optimistic. But the way things sound right now, Cas will be a major part of the story, even when he's not there.
I try to look at it like Peter's current storyline on Fringe. He is gone for now, but he is still there in every single episode, and you know he will be back in the end. There is still hope that the same will hold for Cas, maybe even more so after this interview.

Date: 2011-10-04 07:35 am (UTC)While everyone says Misha hasn't been on set since they filmed 7.02 who's to say they didn't film some extra stuff while they had him so they could insert it in later episodes without people seeing him go to Vancouver?
Anyway...I'm writing something now where Cas is in someone else trying to communicate with Dean, but is too weak yet to take control of the vessel. Don't know if I'll ever even publish it...but it's making me feel better to write it!

And even though I think TPTB have to finally understand what it really is they are doing to people, and how cruel it is, I am not ready to let them break me just to prove that point.

They don't have to come out and say that Cas is still alive and give the entire storyline away, of course not, but what they do here isnt't teasing anymore. It's downright cruel.
And while I do believe that this really indicates that Castiel will be back, I am still not okay with how things are handled.

Date: 2011-10-09 08:05 am (UTC)One thing I would like to point out is that Cas' body has been disintegrated twice already and both times he's come back in Jimmy's body despite it having been blown to pieces. So I'd find it hard to believe they couldn't do it again. Whoever brought Cas back those times (and I think when he gave up the souls too, he looked pretty gone to me, then it looked as though he was plonked back in) has no reason to not do it again.
Aside from that of course there's no reason for Cas the angel to not be alive.

Date: 2011-10-09 06:44 pm (UTC)And aside from the Leviathans' claim I see absolutely no proof that Cas is dead, which is probably why I can't really wrap my head around Dean just giving up like that. He made that mistake in 7x01, was proven wrong, and now he does it all over again.
