... unless it is about a lion of course, which it is not.

Anyway, I started watching Roar yesterday. I've seen the first two episodes, and it is a little trashy, or maybe rather: It is very 90s, but adorably so.

I may be biased, but I truly do think that Longinus is the most interesting character so far. I find it impossible to see him as evil, because he is so haunted and... fragile, in a way. And just so, so tired. You also have to consider that he has a completely different view on life and death than anyone else on the show.
I really enjoy his interaction with Diana as well. I keep wondering what he sees in her. Why he is so devoted to her. I hope there is more about that in future episodes.
After a very promising start in the pilot, Diana is in danger of becoming a cliché villain right now. I hope they'll still turn that around. I also wonder if she truly cares about Longinus, or if she just keeps him around for his abilities and his knowledge. I believe that she does care, on some level at least. She seems a lot less cold whenever they're alone. At the same time, I don't doubt that she'd betray him, if it were her or him.
Longinus acts a lot different around the soldiers as well, compared to when he thinks that no one - or only Diana - is watching him, and it seems to exhaust him to pretend to be strong and in control.

The good guys, on the other hand, are all nice and heroic, but a tad boring with their perfect morals. I guess there is a reason I have a soft spot for bad guys. ;)

Mainly, if you like BBC's Robin Hood, you might want to give this a try. The style and some of the main themes are very similar. Robin Hood has the better characters though.

The show is about a young Celt who fights to free Ireland from the Roman invaders. Here's the imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118451/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118451/)

It is a little hard to come by, but I own the French import now. So there should be a chance for you to watch it sometime. ;)
