gwaevalarin: (Castiel 6x03)

Trying something new for this episode, live commentary while I watch it. It feels like the right kind of episode for something like this.

The first X-Files shout out right at the beginning with the location. That whole teaser really does have an X-Files vibe.

OMG! The Intro! How amazing is that? And Cas is in that episode? That's a nice surprise.
"The Truth is in there." Bwahahaha! Oh, show, I love you.

"I'm here because I believe ..."
Did that as a first sentence remind anyone else of Stonehenge Apocalypse?

I kinda like soulless!Sam in this episode. He's mean but funny. And Dean trying to teach him how to care while Sam just does not get it at all. I mean, it should be really sad and creepy when Sam just sits in the bar listening to Dean and giving unhelpful advise while Dean is being hunted through a cornfield and then just vanishes in a white light. But, I'm sorry, it is hilarious.

"It's fine. I mean, I've had time to adjust."
"Did it happen when you were kids?"
"No, like half an hour ago."
[...]
"Did you consider the possibility that you suck at hunting UFOs?"

I think we have to work on that emotions and empathy stuff, Sammy.

Erm, I'm sure Dean didn't want to walk in on this. Remember Dean, it's a beautiful natural act.

Oh, okay, that does sting. Even if Dean was gone all night. Sam being way too direct and unsympathetic to strangers is one thing as is knowing that Sam doesn't care about Dean. But experiencing it like that... ouch. And that whole scene makes me feel really uncomfortable. The way Dean talks about his abduction, Sam trying to fake empathy... This is all way too wrong. By which I don't mean that it's a bad scene. Not at all. It's just kinda hard to watch.

What is it with everyone pouring Dean drinks lately. First Cas, now Sam.

"So you're saying having a soul equals suffering."
I guess if you want to put it that way. You know, this conversation reminds me of the one Dean had with Cas in Heaven's green room about how the pain and the suffering is worth it. I just get the feeling that Cas got it a lot better than Sam will. And if Sam thinks that having a soul comes with too many disadvantages he might not want to have it back after all.

The fairy is a little golden light? Seriously? A very feisty little golden light. A very feisty naked little golden light. With wings. Sam, I really think you are supposed to laugh.

That motel room wallpaper is really distracting.

Are they actually going through with all this fairy stuff? I mean, come on, it is a little ridiculous. And by a little I mean completely. It's funny, though. I'm just not sure I actually want this as part of the Supernatural mythology. Especially with Dean being able to see them now. There will be another twist, right?

Haha, I guess Dean's attack on the supposed fairy gave the wrong impression.

How can fairies spot a missing soul right away and angels can't? Hm, you think they're going to shift the mythology to a place they already hinted at in 'Hammer of the Gods'? Where in reality God is just one of many deities roaming around, Heaven and Hell are just two more dimensions and christianity is just arrogant enough to think they're the ones making the rules while the other religions and creatures don't really give a damn?

Okay, so no other twist. And no Castiel despite Misha's name turning up in the credits. Fun episode, though. Weird, but fun. :)

:)

You know, i´ve been asking myself that since a few episodes now. How come every creature can smell or see that Sam´s soul is gone, but the angels (THE ANGELS!!!!) couldn´t see it? That doesn´t make sense. Especially now, since a freaking fairy can see it after a few minutes!

It is weird. I kind of hope that they will come up with an explanation for this but, to be honest, I doubt they will.

Yep, it is. *nods* I was laughing my butt off during that scene - although I knew that I shouldn't but I... It was just too hilarious! Soulless Sam can be funny, after all.

And nipples. *smirks* Of course that'd be the fist thing Dean would notice.

Oh holy crap, it didn't even occoure to me that there's something wrong with the scene, I totally didn't notice it! But you're right, how is it possible? Are fairies more powerful than angels? But then again, why does God have and army of angels and not fairies? *scratches head* I sorta hope they'll come up with an explanation for this, but I somehow doubt it...

christianity is just arrogant enough to think they're the ones making the rules
That's just the way christianity, or rather the church, works. Whoops, I didn't say that! *shuts mouth* *hides*

Also, did I make this up, or did Jared Sam have a pretty thick Texas accent in the scene when they were walking towards the car after they were visiting the crystal lady?! Tired much, Jared? *g*

I kinda don't know what to answer because I think we talked about everything in your comment yesterday. *lol*

I'll have to rewatch the scene when they're waking back to the car because I compeletely missed that Texas accent.

Ditto!

And I really hope so! I loved seeing the other religions in Hammer and really, really wanna see Castiel (or Bal, or any angel at all) really talking it out with a being from another faith. I think that would be very interesting, and kind of like Gaiman's American Gods (which is awesome, read it NOW if you haven't already).

Also? I spotted the connection between Dean's talk with Sam and his argument with Cas in the green room too! I love that Dean's stance on life is still 'I'll take the pain' despite everything he's been through :)

But yeah. Bizarre episode this one. Fun, but really strange...

I've been meaning to for years but somehow I just never got around to reading it. But it is on the very top of my to read list.

Me too. I think it's a very important part of the show and his character.
