If I had a Misha morning on Saturday, I had a Mark morning on Sunday.

Mark Panel

Mark couldn't join us on Saturday because he was in Cardiff where he may or may not have been shooting a certain British show. So I was very excited to finally see him on Sunday. Aside from Misha he was the guest I was looking forward to most. Mark is an exceptionally nice guy and really seems to see himself as a fan just with a little more insight into the business. He does care a lot about the - in the broadest sense - scifi genre and has a lot to say about how things work at the studies, why it is so hard for genre shows and how our, as in the fans', influence has changed.
  • He kept asking us if Crowley has died in the last episode: "Have I died yet on the show?" - No. - "Interesting...". A little later: "Then again I might be dead.". At one point he said that he actually has been dead for 30 years.
  • Crowley's hell hound is called Steve. And Mark thinks that every dog should be called Steve, Dave, Ruby or Meg.
  • Mark thinks that Battlestar Galactica, Firefly and Supernatural are all great shows.
  • His favourite Doctor is Tom Baker but he's also a big fan of Matt Smith's Doctor. He thinks Matt is an amazing actor.
  • he kept saying "Balls." in a Bobby voice and gave an imitation of Jim: "I've done all this work and I'm going to be remembered for kissing Mark fucking Sheppard."
  • Kissing Jim would have been fine if Jim hadn't used tongue.
  • They couldn't find any actor of the right age in Vancouver who was willing to kiss another man for his first scene in Abandon All Hope. Then they finally did find someone who was fine with it in theory but got really nervous and sweaty when they actually filmed that scene. He was so nervous that he kept missing his mark so Mark spent a lot of time kissing that guy.
  • Mark says it is great to work with his father because he gets to hang out with him and they pay him for it.
  • The greatest gift he ever got: His children (d'awwwwww) but a PS3 is great too.
  • He says that the best presents are those with a personal touch and told us that his wife got him a first edition of a book by Hubert Selby signed by the author. Apparently Mark knew him pretty well but didn't have anything of his when he passed away. It was a book that had actually been banned in the UK and it was a first British edition which made it pretty special.
  • He thinks Ben Edlund is a great writer.
  • Mark was asked who'd win in a battle between Crowley and Gabriel and just went: "Duh, it's Crowley." Then he told everyone who hadn't seen 6x04 yet to cover their ears and added: "Crowley is king of what again?"
  • Someone asked him, since we've never seen Crowley change his eye colour or get out of a Devil's Trap could he turn out to be God? Mark said that was very observant but he can't answer the question.
  • Mark would love to see Crowley in a Kilt. "I have very athletic calves"
  • He talked about one show - I can't remember which one it was - where work was not that much fun. There were apparently two groups: One was fine but in the other one people were really miserable and he couldn't understand how you can be this miserable with a job like theirs.

Mark and Aldis Panel

  • Aldis wants to bring Christian Kane to Supernatural.
  • Aldis was very sad about obviously being dead for good on the show since he hasn't been back for 4 seasons.
  • Aldis showed us his abs and Mark his tattoos.
  • Mark blames Alan Rickman for all the British villains on tv. Aldis think it's the accent. Apparently, you can make things sound more menacing in a British accent.
  • They talked about the difference between British and American English because Aldis didn't know what a lorry is.
  • Mark corrected that Misha wasn't with THE queen but A queen.
  • In their fight scene on Leverage, Christian threw Mark through a table. It looked great. Problem is, it was a real table and not supposed to break. Everyone was a little worried but Mark was lying on the floor laughing and said he was fine.
  • They talked about a Supernatural Leverage crossover and Mark decided that Sterling and Crowley are actually the same person. Aldis said that the amount of blood could be an issue since Leverage is watched by families with children and they don't just chop off heads like Supernatural does.

Mark Coffee Lounge

  • "This is the largest AA meeting I've ever been to." Someone asked back how many AA meetings he has been to. ;)
  • We talked quite a lot about this show filmed in Cardiff in which Mark may or may not have a role.
  • Mark always talked about "us" when talking about fans, including himself.
  • He explained a lot about how tv has changed and how we, as fans, have more influence now but also how there is still a lot of change that needs to take place.
  • Mark fully understands that fans download their shows illegally. He told is that the shows' creators will never complain about the downloads, it's only the studios. He also said that a lot of people - including him apparently - wait for the DVDs instead of watching the shows when they air because you never know if you'll really get the whole show or if it will be canceled after a few episodes anyway like it happened with Firefly which he thinks had such amazing potential. You don't want to get invested into something that is gone after just a few episodes.
  • When he was on The X-Files the ratings were very bad and everyone thought they'd get canceled. But then a telegraph arrived telling them not to worry about the ratings.
  • Most shows Mark has been to have been a lot of fun.
  • In his Charmed episode they had a real tiger and it was standing just a few feet away from him. Mark thought that was very scary. People are supposed to be scared of tigers.
  • Bobby and Rufus are like an old married couple. We talked quite a lot about the episode and how great it was. Mark quoted some lines of scenes he wasn't in so it seems he really is watching and enjoying the show.
  • People like Kripke, Sera, Bob Singer, Joss Whedon etc. are very protective of their shows and make sure that they stay on the right path.
  • At the end of the coffee lounge I showed crochet!Steve, formerly known as Cerberus, to Mark. I don't usually do that, showing stuff I made to actors. I may have them somewhere in sight and then leave it to the actors if they want to comment on it or not. But Mark was talking with someone about the hell hound on their bag when I came by so I thought it was kinda fitting in that situation and made an exception. Mark: "But mine's bigger.". Me, showing him crochet!Crowley: "Yeah, but my Crowley is smaller." Mark took crochet!Crowley from me to take a closer look and told me he thought crochet!Crowley was brilliant. Awww!

Aldis Panel

I only caught the last part of Aldis's panel due to my Misha and Mark photo shoot. Sometimes it's too bad you can't be at two places at once.
  • Aldis walked down to everyone asking a question and gave them a hug.
  • Some guy asked him to record a voice mail for him which Aldis did.
  • Misha threw an inflatable horse on stage during the panel and Aldis gave it to a young girl.
  • Aldis advise if you want to become an actor: "Love yourself, trust yourself, get an education"

Jake Panel

  • With Aldis starting it, Jake gave a hug to everyone asking questions as well.
  • When asked whch character he'd kill off he waited for our reaction. He first misunderstood Lisa for Misha and was slightly confused "I thought you love the guy.". The he got it and said, yes, he'd kill off Lisa.
  • Damn, I don't remember anything else from that panel. Sorry.

Misha Panel

Misha's panel on Sunday was insane and, like other people have said, pretty surreal.
  • My absolute highlight of the panel was when [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate asked him abut Balthazar and if he will be back. The question was innocent enough but Misha turned it around completely. A few fans complained about the spoiler, which, seriously guys, the episode aired weeks ago. Misha told them that if they didn't want to be spoiled, well tough and if they really loved the show they had watched the episode by now. He said that Sebastian Roché is a great guy and they still have plans to go for a beer. Misha is looking forward to working with Sebastian in the future. Then he realised that with not having seen the episode, some people may not know who Sebastian is and explained: "For those of you who don't know, Sebastian Roché plays the angel Castiel loses his virginity to." Then he pondered about how Cas should come out to Dean and they should have a whole episode where Cas goes "Dean, I think I'm gay." and how this explains the 2000 year old virgin thing because Castiel was simply looking in all the wrong places. He concluded it with the actual answer to the question SPOILER promising that, yes, Balthazar will be back.
  • He was asked about the strip club story Rob gave us and said that he bought Julie and her now husband a lap dance. He claimed not to remember if he actually talked a stripper into going full frontal but explained to us that taking off your clothes kinda comes with the job.
  • When he asked about being a Dad he said it was good. He is naked a lot more now. "I don't know, He's naked. I'm naked. We walk around the house naked together a lot." Apparently babies like the skin to skin contact.
  • He had to take West to a hospital because he was running a fever which can be very dangerous in West's age. He said this is when you realise that there is this person other than you that you care about so much and want to make sure they're okay.
  • When Misha continued talking about West he just hesitated for about a second before he went into a lot of detail about some things that I think no one really wanted to know that much about. Let's just say that it involved quite some pee and poop and Misha should really get a new mattress. He was oversharing on this one but it's okay. He's such a proud Daddy. &hearts
  • To Misha West is like a Rubik's cube because he's a puzzle and Misha has to figure out why he's crying.
  • Misha's theme song would be My Little Pony. Obviously.
  • If Misha could be on a British show it'd be Doctor Who because that's the only British show he knows.
  • I'm not sure if that was really on Sunday or Saturday, but Misha was asked if he had any phobias and he retold the story about how his dog turned into Big Bird. It took him years to figure out that this had apparently been a dream. His father mentioned bees and Misha went "What else Dad? Tell them my weak points...".
  • He also asked his father for help about what the most random thing was he had ever done and father voted for the mattress he gave to an elderly couple in the name of Random Acts.
  • If money wasn't an issue, what scene would he like to see on the show? Misha wants to see two or more angels in their true form having sex.
  • At one point a mobile phone was ringing on stage and Misha answered. It turned out that it was a guy who wanted to propose to his girlfriend that way because he said she's Misha's biggest fan. She was shaking when Misha gave her the engagement ring. So he hugged her and congratulated them both. It was a really touching and sweet moment.
  • A little girl of about 2 or 3 years won the homemade jar for the largest turnip. Her mother came to the stage with her and Misha asked her if she liked presents. The little girl was very shy but then suddenly she ran over to Misha, snatched the jar from him and ran away. So cute! Misha then went off stage and gave out turnip chips to some fans.
  • If Misha could time travel he'd either go back a minute to think of an answer for that question or he'd go to the 1800s because for some reason he doesn't quite know himself he's always been fascinated by that period. By the way, I just remember that for the teleport question the day before, Misha said he would just teleport a few centimeters on stage all the time just to make us think we were going insane.
  • Julie and Jake crashed Misha's panel with their coffee lounge. The pretended getting lost while looking for the bathroom.
  • The Random Acts group that went to Haiti is obviously back and Misha and the staff are currently looking through the proposals for the December acts.
  • Misha claims that his relationship with the queen is a romantic one, with the usual ups and downs, When someone told him that Mark had said it was A queen not THE queen Misha said that would explain what she was doing at the sidewalk and why she had stubbles the next morning. "It's all starting to make sense now."
  • Misha called Jensen a gay porn actor.
  • Weirdest thing a fan ever did to get his attention? He mentioned the girl who took his napkin in some coffee lounge at another con again. She didn't try to get his attention, quite the opposite but it was definitely a little weird. He gets weird things in the post. It is one thing to get underwear from fans that fit him, but getting underwear that fit the fans and looks like it may have been worn by them... yeah, definitely weird.

Julie and Jake Panel

The last panel was another one with Julie and Jake.
  • They started planning a spin off called Annamichael - Jake wanted to just call it Michael. It only has one episode which is also the season finale and it is about Michael coming back from the cage, resurrecting Anna and then they go kill Sam and Dean and raise a little hell with their army of fluffy bunnies which are Julie's angelic version of a demon's hell hound. It will be filmed in the UK and we will play fluffy bunnies. With flaming swords.
  • If Jake could teleport anywhere on Earth he's teleport to the Moon.
  • Julie's favourite scene was the fight with Mary, Jake's was going up in flames.

Closing Ceremony

Sunday went by way too fast and suddenly it was time to say goodbye. We had chanted Aldis's name during his panel earlier so when Aldis and Misha came on stage they started chanting "Fans!". And yes, it does feel good.
I have two videos, one with Aldis singing - I'm sure, he promised. ;) :

And a very short one of Misha saying goodbye:

When the closing ceremony was over I had a big lump in my throat, con blues just waiting to take hold of me. I really felt like crying. But fortunately I had my girls who turned a depressing moment in a great, fun night.
So, I want to say a big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] raths_kitten for being a great room mate.
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] seriesjunkie23, Corinna, Sabrina, [livejournal.com profile] supnatural2006 for being so much fun and just great people to chat to and fangirl with.
Thank you [livejournal.com profile] hils for being a worthy - and inadvertent - opponent during the gummi bear wars. Sorry I only briefly came over to say hi. I wish we could have talked more, but there's always so much going on at cons and I never have as much time for everyone as I wish I had.
Also thank you to [livejournal.com profile] takadainmate and [livejournal.com profile] littlehollyleaf for asking the Balthazar question. We need to have a Balthazar fandom meet up next time.
And thank you for everyone else I met during the weekend. Everyone was just really nice and relaxed and made this con so much fun. I'm looking forward to seeing you at A6, A7 or some other future con. &hearts

Okay guys, that's all I have for you. I hope you enjoyed the reports.

Holy Shit, yes! I'll help him! How can I contact Aldis?!

Lol. Being actually able to send them messages via twitter is still so new and unfamiliar that I tend to forget about it too sometimes. Twitter certainly has changed fandom, hasn't it?

The show that wasn't quite as much fun was Voyager. And you failed to sum up the only panel I mostly missed (Jake's). LOL. But I take it I didn't miss anything important then.

Thanks for summing up Sunday. I don't know when I'll be able to do mine. :-/ And yes, ditto on the room mate thing! *hugs*

Aw, I'm sorry. For some reason I forgot to take notes for that one.

Hi! :)

It was an amazing time.

Hope to see you and the girls soon, latest on the AE2.
I'm not going to AE2. *cries* I'll be at A6 though. And probably A7, so maybe I'll see you there?

Man, das klingt richtig gut. Hach ... eigentlich wollte ich ja nie wieder zu einer Asylum fahren, aber ...hach.

You should reconsider. Rogue's organisational skills have improved immensely. Asylum Europe already worked pretty well and A6 was pretty much perfect. And even more importantly: All the guest were in such a great mood. And despite 700 fans there we had a rather familiar atmosphere.

Wie heißt's immer so schön? Irgendwann lernt's jeder. Einer braucht länger, der andere kürzer.

So.

Well, as long as they did learn it in the end...

Mark is amazing. I could listen to him for hours.
It's actually a little confusing at first because he pretty much always plays... morally ambiguous characters but he's such a nice guy in real life.

Tell Maggie to get better soon from me.

Thank you so much!!! You're the greatest!

I just wanna give you a big hug for writing this fab report. Thing is, it's still so surreal to me (even though I was there and it was my 3rd con his year, duh me!). I mean, you saw me and we all talked with each other for hours. It was fangirl bliss for me! And yet, I still think that I must have been dreaming it all. There's no way I saw Misha standing right in front of me talking to me (OMG, why couldn't I keep my big mouth shut, I'm still kicking my own butt for it) and he was so freaking close *sigh*!
Thank God for A6, I will definitely see you there then.
Roll on next May!
xoxox
PS: But I totally expect us all to get together again way before the con. Kay?

Thank you, sweetheart.

It was the third time I met Misha and it's not really that surreal any more but I kinda miss him more every time I have to leave again.
Not to mention how much I miss you guys. Just sitting in a bar and chatting about my favourite show with you? This is my version of heaven.
I'm so, so glad you'll be at A6. I was afraid I'd have to go there alone with all my friends being at AE2.

PS: But I totally expect us all to get together again way before the con. Kay?
Absolutely. We cannot wait until May for that. That's way too long.

Thanks for the report. The part about the guy calling to propose to his girlfriend was weird and awesome at the same time. :)

The proposal was maybe a little weird but it really was mainly cute and awesome.

And i´ve read in a comment that you´re not coming to AE2? WHAT?
No, I'm not. With the tickets selling the way they did I had to make a decision and A6 just made more sense than AE2 for me. Of course it sucks that a lot of my friends will be at AE2 and not A6. :(

Misha's theme song would be My Little Pony. Obviously. <--- lol, I laughed so much here.

This convention was really good, it seems.I'd like to go to the Jus in Rome now more than ever, but it will be totally different probably. No Aldis, no Jake... I quite love them both and even if we'll have Kripke here, I still don't have enough money to buy a ticket. And now the cheap ones are finished so... deh.

The convention was a lot of fun. I can't really tell you how different other Supernatural conventions are. Obviously they will have other guests and I've only ever been to Rogue conventions.

When I heard that Kripke'll be at JiB I was so tempted to go. I mean, it's Kripke! The man himself. But their tickets are just ridiculously expensive compared to Rogue.

I could come to one Asylum... I'd like to find another excuse for coming in UK.

Yes, they are expensive. There's a good organization behind, ok but, their tickets are a bit crazy. I cannot judge, but I agree with you in this point.
