Birthday Parade Report

As you might have noticed the Minions had a #MishaBDayParade on Twitter yesterday.
All the non-Minions on my flist now have my full permission to role their eyes, mumble "not again" and scroll past this post. For all the Minions who missed it and everyone who likes pictures of yummy cakes:
Yes, I made a cake for Misha's birthday. Don't tell me you're surprised.
This is what it looked like before I put it into the oven. I decided to take a picture just in case baking it would completely mess up the writing. I thought Russian chocolate cheescake was kind of fitting considering Misha was named after his mother's Russian boyfriend:

But, yay, when it came out of the oven my birthday message was still readable.

I thought it still looked a little boring. So I decided to spice it up a bit. I went to the local store to find something fitting and I can tell you now that there are no sweets shaped as ponies, robot heads, kangaroos or angels. Fortunately there were burgers and there was confetti. Good thing we have enough insiders to choose from. So here it is, the final version of Misha's birthday cake:

Let me tell you that those little burgers smelled disgusting. I'm pretty sure they're worse than uncooked vegetarian sausage with tomato paste. Even though my mother claimed that they actually didn't taste that bad. Yes, I got my parents to eat Misha's birthday cake with me. Okay, basically they just wanted the cake and didn't care what it said but it still amuses me. So this is what it looked like just an hour or so later:

The Parade itself, if you missed it, was pretty epic. Last time I checked we had more than 800 participants and way over 5000 tweets in our attempt to get #MishaBDayParade trending. I left after about 3 1/2 hours. I have no idea how long it went on after that.
The Mionions also proved again that united we could actually take over the world. We did make it to #4 on the trending topic list. Here's proof:

I also heard that we made it up to #2 for about 10 seconds right before we got blocked for no apparent reason. Obviously Twitter really is scared of us. Of course, that didn't stop us from celebrating and they didn't block us fast enough because Misha was online just in time to still see it trending. So I'd say it was a complete success:
mishacollins Thanks for trending #mishasbdayparade. Makes me feel better after Obama suddenly changed his mind about making today a national holiday.
mishacollins It's also nice to see that Mr. Twitter hasn't lost his Stalinist zeal when it comes to censoring all things misha. The trend's been removed.
Does anyone else find it remarkable that Misha actually comes online on his birthday to see what his Minions are up to. I love this fandom. Please last forever, 'kay?
And just a few other things that have nothing to do with Misha's birthday but that I like to credit to it just because they happened yesterday so I can:

And just a few other things that have nothing to do with Misha's birthday but that I like to credit to it just because they happened yesterday so I can:
- Yesterday was the first really warm and sunny day in weeks
- My raffle ticket won. Okay, it was only 2 euros but even with world domination you have to take small steps, right?
- My LJ notification started working again. After months. Yay!
- I rewatched Stonehenge Apocalypse. This movie will never not be hilarious.

Me too, sweetheart, me too.
I usually rather stay at the outskirts of fandom but Misha seems to make that impossible.

Date: 2010-08-21 10:51 am (UTC)My Twitter is locked, so I doubt my tweet to the trend was seen. :( I couldn't direct message him either. So in the end I wished him a happy b-day on Facebook.
