New season, new team, new car

I just watched the launch of the MP4-25 live online. I half expected their server to crash but the connection was really good. I'm not that much of a design or engineering buff so I can't comment much on the car other than it looks long, the back looks really different compared to last year and I kind of like it.

But what I was much more interested in was how Jenson and Hamilton would act around each other. And I have to say: I was pleasently surprised. It's no secret that I don't like Hamiltom but they don't even seem to make that bad a team. Of course you can't even compare it to the dream team Jenson and Rubens formed but the first impression wasn't that bad. Same goes for Jenson's integration into the team.
Of course this little ceremony doesn't say much about how things really are behind the scenes. But if it is any indication I like what it is indicating. Even if it's just small things like Jenson always being mentioned first being the driver with the No.1 on his car.
When Jenson and Hamilton first appeared on stage to unveil the car they didn't seem to really know how to act around each other. When Hamilton was asked what he thought about his new team mate there was a slightly awkward laughter from him and the audience.
But when they came back for a Q&A it seemed like the order was set. Jenson was completely in control, happily answering all questions - aside from the one about who will get more money - while Hamilton hardly said a thing unless the question was specifically for him or Jenson pretty much pushed him to say something as well. I'm probably imagining things but Hamilton almost seemed awed. Like he was the newbie looking up to the much more experiences world champion. Of course Jenson is much more experienced but they're both world champions and within the team Jenson is the newbie. It was pretty odd but yes, of course I liked it.
Then Hamilton was asked about new parts for the car. Kovalainen had been complaining that Hamilton would always get new parts first. So who'd get them first in 2010? Hamilton claimed that this had happened only once but he also clearly stated that if something like that should happen again in 2010 then of course Jenson would get them first with him being the number 1 driver.
Most funny bit was the question about how difficult it will be to be up against a "one-driver team". Of course everyone knew which team/driver was meant. Jenson still tried to pretend he didn't and said something in the line of "There won't be a one-driver team because Rosberg or Schumacher - whichever one you're talking about - probably won't like to be the other part of a one driver team." Short pause in which Jenson realised that no one had said anything about Mercedes being that team. "If that's the team you're talking about. Oops.
It almost seems like Jenson has already taken over this team completely. I don't believe that's really the case and we won't know anything before we've seen the first few races. But I'm a lot more hopeful now that they really will treat both drivers equally.
