Here we go. First part of my travelogue.
A short note first: Unfortuately I wasn't able to take many pictures since my camera obviously didn't like the (absence of) light in the panel room. I'll post some of those on which you can at least make out who's on it.

Getting to Coventry went pretty good. The security check was a little strickter that I'd remembered it from my flight to Ireland and the pane was small like only three seats in a row small and not really comfortable but it brought us to Burmingham savely.

Burmingham is huge. At least it seems huge when you look down on it from the plane. But at the same time it's kinda cute. Thiiii!
We didn't have any problems in finding our way to the train station and the train to Coventry - that went on to Winchester *g* - and took a taxi to the hotel. A taxi you can easily fit 4 people and their luggage into. Yeah english taxis!
First thing we noticed: English elevators talk. "Door opening." "Door closing." Fortunately they didn't answer our "Thanks" with "You're welcome" or we really'd have looked for rocksalt.
Second thing we noticed: Everyone in Coventry seems to spreak German. WtBö? The was the guy at the passport check, the girl at the reception desk who actually was from Germany, the two guys who were standing in front of the hotel and told us the way to the city center and even the Ibis security guy who asked us where we were from and then managed to put together a "Sprechen Sie deutsch?"

Yes, the Ibis has a security guy who asks you for your room card if you come back after midnight.
The hotel was fine by the way. It's nothing special but we really couldn't complain. Except that it was so hot in the room when we came in there. And we didn't really have a lot of tv stations so no BuaBS on thursday night. But we found RTL. WTF?

After we had made ourselfs at home - [livejournal.com profile] dimturien and [livejournal.com profile] cellardoor081 in one, [livejournal.com profile] estar_bunny and myself in the other room - we walked to the city center. It was raining and pretty much everything was closed already but we found our way to the Brittania and - SQUEEEE - the Leofric. It wasn't more than a ten minute walk from our hotel. And finally we found a Doner bar that also served chicken burger. The guy there was really nice - like everyone - and before we left he asked us if we liked Germany or England better. I instantly wanted to say England but I figured I couldn't do that since I had just been there for a few hours. But it's true: I like England a lot better.
I'm completely in love with the accent they have in Coventry though it sounds so different from the accent Jenson (notice the 'o') has for excample or the one I heard in Ireland but I love it. And it makes me painfully aware how much of an American and especially German accent I have. *meh*

Friday was the day when the con started. One word: Waiting.
That's pretty much was the day was about. In the morning we went to the shopping center mainly to get something hot to drink and to buy an adapter cause ours wouldn't work with the plug of Rainy's laptop. It took us like forever to find one but we did and then on the way back Rainy and I got lost a little but after a small *coughs* detour we found our way back to the hotel.
Then we were told that registation started at 3 pm so we went to the Leofric just to read that we had to wait till at least 4:30 pm. So we went to the LJ meeting first.

We sat around and talked and read the Supernatural Origins comic until we were told that the registration wouldn't start until 6 pm. Yes, friday was a little chaotic and even annoying but the other days totally made up for that. So we got something to eat and then waited a little more and at 6 pm the registration really did start for everyone with numbers 1 to 200. It finally was our turn about an hour later. We could have watched the episode about 5 times by then - not that we'd have wanted to.

Waiting for the registration

so we finally got our packages. I had Dim's photo ticket. Mine were missing and I was told to come back the next day. Did I mention chaotic?
There already was a some merchandising so we got the comic (Wheeee!) and shiirts and then went back to our hotel to finally watch the episode (and miss the party but I was way to tired to go there anyway and I don't think we really missed anything).

SPOILER
I have no idea how I'd have gotten through that episode if Dim hadn't been there with me to hold me tight from Andy's death till the end of the episode. Thank you so much, honey! *squishes you*
SPOILER

After that episode the night was pretty much over for me but I went outside with Dim anyway and we stood there in front of the hotel with [livejournal.com profile] nebulein and [livejournal.com profile] naire talking till about 1:30am. Once we had to walk around the corner of their hotel cause the security guy came out to us asking us to keep it down a little cause other guests were complaining and had threatened to call the police - don't you normally talk to he people before you call the police? It's not like we knew that you could hear us inside - but he was still really nice and friendly.
