Guess I kinda lost my head

Dear show, don't you dare screw up Castiel's character as much as you did in this episode. Ever. Again. Do you hear me? This was the first time ever, that I could not explain the things he did because they just. Didn't. Make. Any. Fucking. Sense. At. All.
It was also the first time that I wished Castiel had not been in an episode.
This whole episode made me so angry. I still feel like screaming and throwing something at my tv. ARG!

*takes a deep breath*

There were, however, a few scenes that were actually pretty great, so I'm just going to concentrate on them and forget the rest ever happened:

Crowley torturing shapeshifter!Crowley. I admit, it had me confused for a moment. And it was such a great scene. "Guess I kinda lost my head." Oh, Crowley, never change!

Just overall, Crowley. I love how calm and in control he is. That's exactly what makes him so threatening and amazing. This smile when he catches the boys. That slightly annoyed look when the alarm goes off. That's my demon. &hearts

"If you don't help us I will hunt you down and kill you." - "Will you, boy? How?"
I can't believe Sam is threatening Cas like that. Then again, Sam has no soul. But I'm so glad Castiel steps up and reminds Sam who he is talking to. He is nice to the Winchester boys and lets them get away with a lot of crap because he genuinely likes them. But he is an angel and he could pretty much kill them with a snap of his finger. And he is starting to lose his patience. If it wasn't for Dean, Sam would probably regret his words by now.

The talk between Cas and Dean about Sam's soul. Cas is so hesitant to tell Dean about his worries. That Sam's soul has been in the cage with Michael and Lucifer, two very angry and frustrated archangels - and Adam. Why does no one ever mention Adam? - for so long now that there is hardly any chance that they will get it back unscarred. Mutilated. To a point where death would be a relieve. Cas knows what this news will do to Dean and he probably knows that Dean won't listen but he has to tell him. Warn him. Prepare him.
And Dean's reaction is exactly the one he's been showing all season. If Sam comes back wrong then Cas will just have to fix him. You know, in a way it's almost flattering that Dean believes that Cas can just solve all their problems. But despite being an angel in full control of his powers again, Castiel is not all-powerful and Dean will have to learn and accept that at some point. And he needs to stop having a go at Castiel whenever the angel is not able to help him. Seriously. Cas is doing everything he can, which is more than Dean has any right to ask for.
Castiel's "Of course." sounds so weary. He seems close to giving up on trying to make Dean understand. The question is, what will be the necessary consequences if he does?

Cas killing Crowley. I can't believe I'm putting this on the good scenes list because: CROWLEY! NOOOOOOO! *sobs*
Not to mention that it was incredibly stupid of the show to get rid of the best bad guy they ever had, in the middle of the season, and with him of pretty much of their entire main story line. Which is why there is a part of me that is trying to figure out how and why Crowley could have tricked them into believing that they succeeded in killing him. I keep picturing him sitting somewhere, a glass of Whisky in his hand. Then the camera zooms back and reveals Gabriel next to him, chewing on a chocolate bar, and they both shake their heads and laugh about how anyone could really believe they were dead. Please. Trickster. King of Hell.
But seriously, they can't really be stupid enough to kill off Crowley for good, right? *denial*
Anyway, despite all that, the scenes was really well done.
First Crowley tells them pretty much the same thing Cas told Dean. That Sam's soul is pretty much beyond saving by now and no one in their right mind would still want it back.
Then he owns Meg. King of hell, bitch!
And then Castiel arrives for the showdown. And those two, opposite each other in one scene? That's pretty much as good as it gets. Cas being all fierce and bamf and serious and Crowley being his snarky, sarcastic self. "Castiel. Haven't seen you all season.".
It's probably not the best idea to tease Castiel about how things are not going very well in Heaven. But of course Crowley didn't know that Cas went to find his bones.
There is the finger snipping again, when Crowley releases Sam and Dean. Just like when he let the burns on Sam's hand disappear again. Come on, there has to be some significance to that.
And then, without really any warning or hesitation, after Crowley says he can't return Sam's soul, Cas sets Crowley's bones on fire. And as much as I hate it, it makes perfect sense. Crowley is a demon after all and Cas shows no regret whatsoever. Why would he? He never would have hesitated to kill a demon but he has also hardened in the last year. That's what fighting a war does to you.
And just like that Crowley is gone but at least it was Cas who killed him. Do demons go to Purgatory when they die? What about angels?
The only reason I'm not a muddle of tears right now is that I still refuse to believe that this really is the last we've seen of Crowley. This was too easy and it just doesn't make much sense, story wise. So I'm holding on to the hope that things are not quite what they seem. Crowley cannot be dead. I refuse to believe that.

The last scene is odd. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Cas finally gets a thank you from Dean and even an offer to help him with his problems. But suddenly it's all about them being friends and Dean understands that Cas has his own problems and can't always be there to help them? Where is that coming from? That's what I have wanted ever since 6x03 but the way we get it here it just pretty OOC for Dean right now. So, yeah, not sure what to make of this.

You know, this could have been a really great episode in the hands of the right writer and I think that's what annoys me most about it.
