Turkey 2009 - And it goes on and on
Yesterday, while I was watching the race, I started thinking about what the season would have been like if it was Juancho who was suddenly in the best car.
And my first thought was: Juancho wouldn't have won 6 out of 7 races. I love Juancho's driving style. There's just nothing compared to seeing him push to the limit. And sometimes over it. I miss him and I'm still sad that I'll never see him become F1 world champion. I know he had it in him. But he would have thrown his car away at least once by now. That's the sort of driver her is. That's part of what made watching him so much fun.
I'm not saying that prefer one of them, Juancho and Jenson, over the other. I don't. I just once again realised that I love their ways of driving for completely different reasons.
Because with Jenson? The only thing I sometimes worry about a bit is that the car might break down. And I worry less and less about that because the BrawnGP has proved by now how realiable it is. At least most of the time. Poor Rubens. What I never worry about is that Jenson might make a mistake. Of course he might, he's not flawless, But it's highly unlikely. And that's not because he doesn't push to the limit. His driving is just so smooth and precise. He knows exactly what he can and can't do.
When he held his second place behind Vettel after the start I started to relax. His car was heavier, he could keep up with the Red Bull. There as no reason why he shouldn't win this race by being patient for a bit. And then Vettel made his small mistake, Jenson took the chance and was first once more like he'd never been anywhere else.
Vettel's three stop strategy? Might not have been that bad. He was a hell of a lot faster than Jenson after his first pit stop. But the point is, he came back on the track behind Jenson and every lap Jenson could continue keeping Vettel behind him gave him an advanantage. But I'm sure Jenson was always aware that if he couldn't keep him any longer he'd get him agin after the next pit stop. But Vettel never managed to pass Jenson in the first place and I can't believe how easy Jenson's staying in front looked because I'm sure it wasn't. Then again, half of the time I can't believe how easy everything Jenson does on track looks this year.
So in the end I'm tempted to say that Jenson won this race three times. First, when he just had the better car. Second, when he overtook Vettel during the first lap and third, when he kept Vettel behind him in Vettel's second stint. Red Bull just never stood a chance.
All of this is more than I have ever hoped for. And still, as the additional iceing of the cake, it seems like Mark finally got rid of his bad luck. RTL kept arguing about a possible Red Bull team order. What they seemed to have missed is that by now Mark is just 1.5 championship points behind his team mate. Another result like that and he will overtake Vettel in the championship.
Bottom line: I just love formula 1 this year.
Oh and: Is it just me or was there a hint of tears in Jenson's eyes during the PK? &hearts

Strange!
Die Fanfic mit Frederick hab ich leider nicht wieder gefunden. Schade, ich hatte sie mir damals glaub ich nicht wirklich komplett durchgelesen.
