Dear Castiel, my dearest Cas,
I started watching Supernatural back in season 1, but it was the moment when you walked into that barn and my life - all righteous, and powerful, the shadows of your wings dark and impressive - that changed everything. If I'm completely honest, I didn't trust you back then, but from the very start I knew that I could not ignore you. You were such a presence, and I was intrigued.
Then I got to know you, and with every scene, with every moment, I fell in love with you a little bit more. Soon I realised that I did trust you, and that I cared about you, and that I would take this journey with you wherever it took you.
On this journey, I've seen you full of faith, and full of doubt. I don't believe in God, and I probably never will, but your faith in your father moved me deeply. I've seen you learn about humanity, and about love, and friendship and family. I've seen you learn about free will, about what it could give to you and what it could take from you. I've seen you love unconditionally. I've seen you full of hope, and full of despair. I've seen you rebel, and fall, and come back stronger.
I took this journey with you, every single step of the way, and I found so much of myself in you. You, an angel, taught me more about what it means to be human than anyone else ever did. You taught me about love, and faith, and loyalty, and about doing what is right.
This season, I've seen you struggle more that ever before. You were caught in the middle of a war you never wanted, and you had to make tough decisions, in order to survive and to protect your friends, your chosen family.
And just when you needed them the most, everyone you loved abandoned you. First your father, then Dean, and then even Balthazar.
But, Cas, your brother didn't betray you. He did what he did because he loved you, and wanted to protect you. He was always there for you, even when you couldn't see it any more.
And now I've seen you rise, and, ironically, fall so much deeper than ever before. I've seen you break, and my heart broke with you.
Cas, I want you to know that I don't blame you for anything. I want you to know that I understand why you had to do what you did, and that I understand why you ended up here. I want you to know that I'll always firmly stand by your side, no matter what.
I also want you to know that your worth is not defined by power, and that you, Castiel the angel (not the god), are loved, by me and so many others, by Dean, by Balthazar, and I'm sure by your father as well.
I believe in you, Cas. Come back to us.
