TV Shows 2011
TV Shows (full series)
Caprica, Series 1 (8/10)
While it is sad that the show was canceled so soon, I believe that this is exactly what guaranteed such a packed and well-rounded storyline. Defintiely worth watching. I do recommend wathing at least some BSG first, though, because that wil give the finale a lot more depth and meaning.
Highlander, Methos Episodes
In retrospect, some aspects of the show are pretty ridiculous, and I personally think Duncan can be really annoying. But Methos is just as awesome as he ever was. Still one of the greatest tv show characters ever. &hearts
Fringe, Series 1
The first season of Fringe felt a lot more structured and well thought through the second time around. Maybe Fringe just works better with all episodes watched back to back.
Warehouse 13, Series 1 (6.5/10)
I'm watching this show slightly out of order. It is one of my feel-good shows. Not always entirely logical or thought thorugh, but fun and entertaining, without too much drama. And that is exactly what I love about it.
Fringe, Series 2
I still feel that the 2nd season of Fringe is a little unbalanced. I like the overall storyline, but there are too many stand-alone episodes that don't drive the mythology forward.
Primeval, Series 4 (6.5/10)
Well, the finale wasn't much of one. I didn't even realise the season was already over until there wasn't a new episode last weekend. Other than that it's still one of my fun, carefree shows that I just love to sit back and watch without thinking too much about how some of it doesn't really make too much sense, logically, as long as it's entertaining. I still miss Nick, though and I can't really seem to be able warm up to Matt.
24, Series 4
Tony! Michelle! Tony and Michelle! &hearts That's all.
Outcasts, Series 1 (7.5/10)
I like post-apocalyptic-ish stories. I like stories with flawed characters, who each have their strengths, their weaknesses, and their demons to battle. I also like a good mystery or two. Outcasts has all of that. I also like a proper ending and at least some answers, though, and the show doesn't do quite as well in that department, unfortunately.
Being Human (UK), Series 3 (8/10)
I season felt quite a bit darker than previous seasons, or at least than season 1. I miss the humour. That being said, season 3 of Being Human has a greta story line, a lot of character depth and development, and, well, a lot of dark themes that can be difficult to stomach, because the characters you love may not always be the good guys, but they're still the characters you love.
V (2009), Series 2 (7.5/10)
I enjoyed season 2 a lot more than season 1. It tackled larger themes, like soul and human emotion, and how far you can go without betraying what you fight for, and the way the show used these themes and weaved them into its storyline worked very well and gave it a lot of depth.
Bedlam, Series 1 (6.5/10)
The serie is still a little too posh for my taste, but it really picks up towards the finale, and I do find myself hoping for a second season.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Series 4 (7/10)
I did not expect for the finale to turn out that emotional. Can I just say that Ben is one of the nicest and most decent guys on British tv? Right up there with DW's Rory. The season wasn't as good as the previous ones, but it still kept the balance between sexy, adorable, shameless and emotional. I believe it was a good time for it to end. Bye, Belle.
Lost Girl , Series 1 (6.5/10)
Initially I gave up after the pilot, but
ongiara convinced me to give the show another try. I still don't think it has the most original or profound storyline - I saw the big revelation from miles away - but it is entertaining enough. And it has a strong female lead, which is something you don't nearly find often enough.
TV Shows (pilot)
The Cape (6/10)
The show uses quite a few cliches but it is still entertaining. And it has Summer Glau, which is always a good thing.
Being Human US (4/10)
And another example of: Why make a US remake of a perfectly fine UK show? The US version of Being Human adds nothing new or valuable to the story - aside from maybeGeorge's Josh's sister - but lacks the charme of the original. Mark Pellegrino really is the only reason to watch this show.
Marchlands (5/10)
The concept is interesting. I'm not sure about the characters yet. I guess it all depends, if they dive deeper into the mystery about Alice, or if she is more or less merely a way to connect the different times.
Outcasts (7.5/10)
A very promising start, even though I am slightly confused that some of the characters I expected to be main characters are already gone after the first episode. I like the post-apocalyptic new start setup, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Camelot (6/10)
For a show that's not really all that realistic, and has, at least so far, rather stereotypical characters, Camelot takes itself a tad too serious.
Bedlam (6/10)
An old Asylum turned into a modern apartment building, a lot of pissed off ghosts, and a guy who can see how they died. I like the premise, but the show has a lot more potential than it shows. A little less relationship drama and 'Ghost Whisperer' and a little more of what the intro promises would do it good.
The Borgias (7/10)
I have no idea how histroically accurate the story is - not more (or less) that The Tudors, I assume - but it is both interesting and entertaining. The cardinals somewhat remind me of the Unseen Universitiy's faculty, though. Basically, if you liked The Tudors, there's a good chance you'll like this too. The style is very similar.
