I can't really say anything about the changes they did to any of the characters. I've seen the movie and the BBC show and that's pretty much where my Sherlock Holmes knowledge ends. You're the Holmes expert on my flist and "Holmes gone wrong" sounds like a way more interesting concept for a nemesis than what they did in the show.
