With these beautiful, warm spring days, I took the chance to get used to my brand new camera and all the creative possibilities I have now. It's a Canon EOS 500D if anyone is interested. My very first DSRL. I am so much looking forward to taking photos at Asylum 6, and I'm determined to know by then how to work with the lighting there to get acceptable results.

Anyway, here are my favourite pictures of my two day photo safari in the wilderness of our garden, and while we're at it, I'll introduce my girls to everyone who doesn't know them yet:

Today is the big day for Random Acts and Misha when he's going to run as far as he can for charity. And because that is such a great cause, there's a lot of support in this household.

Run, crochet!Castiel, run! )

Misha just started running so if you can, please support him and Random Acts by making a pledge per km or a flat donation. :)

What an amazing race. Much more action on the track and Jenson's first victory with McLaren. And of course it's especially great to see him beat Hamilton.
I was very sceptic when Jenson changed back to dry tyres so early but it was exactly the right decision. And then his smooth driving style gave him the opportunity to stay on the same tyres to the end. Amazing strategy, amazing driving. Worthy of a world champion.

Just like last year Jenson gave me a victory as a belated birthday present. Let's hope the season will continue just like last year. *g*

I'm really sorry for Mark. His home gp didn't really go his way.

On completely unrelated news:
Happy 12th birthday to the most amazing cat in the world, my sweet Ronja. &hearts

Lucifer is here - SPN 5x01 )

In completely unrelated news: 7 years ago, to the day, a little fairychild entered our lives quite unexpectetly and she's been part of the family ever since.
Happy Findday, Elanor!

This year, for the first time, we managed to have proper sunflowers in our garden. So I took my camera to get a few sunny impressions on a not so sunny day.

Pretty pictures )

Where there's photos there has to be cats.

... (minus the 8 and 9 weeks resp. they spent with mommy) these two little balls of fur entered my life:

One to go his own ways and explore the world five years later so that meeting him is a special occasion every time.
One to stay and brighten every single day of my life.

Happy Birthday Ronja and (a week from now) Bandit!

I don't think there's anything more fragile looking than a cat just waking up from narcosis.

Poor Elanor had a really tough week. First she had to stay outside (and in the conservatory) for five days and was fed by total strangers. Then she didn't get to eat anything at all for almost 24 hours and wasn't allowed to go outside. She didn't like that game at all. And this afternoon she had to go to the vet to get her teeth cleaned and one removed.
And now she's lying in her box in my room, hardly able to keep her eyes open and slowly coming back to her senses.

Which means Ronja'll have to stay outside tonight because my room is the only one she's allowed in but it's also the only one fitting to take care of our little patient. One, I can stay with Elanor and watch her all night and two, there's no other room in the house I can make this warm and dark and cosy for her.

I just really have to keep myself from taking her out of her box and burying her in my arms to keep her safe. She just looks so tiny and vulnerable. *sighs*

Poor little girl. By tomorrow the world will look a lot better again.

I got into the Spanish course! *dances around*

The application period ended yesterday so I just took a look into my university account to see if there already decided who was allowed to take part and there ist was in bold green letters: certified

It's a three week intensive course that starts right after the current semester has ended.

YAY!

And a little cat story to prove once again that my girl is very cute and very intelligent: My room looks like a construction site at the moment because I finally get rid of one of my built-in cupboards. It's amazing how much larger my room looks now. Anyway, you can see the wall and some insulation and the way my grandfather - who right now is upstairs in my room working - left it yesterday there's a small spot in front of a gap that gets cold. Tonight I heard Ronja rummaging. And what did I see when I woke up this morning? Ronja had obviously hauled off some insulation from further above where it wasn't needed that much and stacked it in front of the gap. Smart girl. *g*
